Union Plaza Diner in Union, NJ: Review

Located on Route 22 (with entrances from both sides of the highway!), the Union Plaza Diner might be one of the more interesting diners that I’ve happened to visit in New Jersey.

and all the Kitsch in between, there is plenty to look at while sitting at the Union Plaza Diner.

In regards to their menu, they’re in the top 5 for largest diner menus that I’ve ever seen. They literally have everything you can imagine (including a lot of Greek and Mexican dishes). They also have specials for every day of the week, a rotating homemade soup schedule, and a weekday “Super Breakfast” special for only $5.95.

Having such a big menu made it difficult to make a decision, so I stuck to their Friday Lunch Special menu which had plenty to choose from. All lunch specials came with soup and dessert, so I figured that was a great choice since I was very, very hungry.

Luckily they had a matzoh ball soup, so I was happy!

For my entree I got a Grilled Tuna Burger Steak (which is on their regular menu as well). The sandwich is served with grilled red onions, spicy tartar sauce, and homemade potato chips.

Although the sandwich was very good, the potato chips blew me away.

For dessert I opted for bread pudding, one of my favorite desserts which I haven’t indulged in in a long time. Another great surprise! I had heard their desserts were awesome, but I was still very impressed.

Overall, I had a great experience at the Union Plaza Diner. From it’s interesting and unique decor, to the food options and affordability, it was a fantastic diner visit!
