The Silverton Diner in Toms River: Review

It seems like whenever I visit Toms River it’s a rainy day! In my opinion a trip to a NJ diner definitely helps brighten the day. For my trip to the Silverton Diner, arrived during brunch time with my good friend and fellow New Jersey diner enthusiast, Hollie aka FueledbyLOLZ.com (We also arrived wearing the same shirt…which was awesome).

For a weekday afternoon at 11am the diner was actually kind of busy which says something. We had just missed their weekday breakfast special with includes coffee and juice with prices ranging from $4.99 to $8.99. That’s a great deal!

Even though I didn’t get breakfast I was still in need of coffee…

The Silverton Diner has all your classic diner favorites with maybe more seafood options than most. Here are a view items on their menu that stood out:
– Their Banana Split Waffle, a Belgian waffle with banana, ice cream, nuts, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream
– The Big Mac Omelette, hamburger with onions, peppers, cheese, and tomatoes.
– Mini crab balls appetizer
– Buffalo Calamari appetizer
– Eggplant fries
– Knife and Fork Gyro Salad
– Fried Clams in a Basket
– A list of quesadillas labeled “Quesadilla Mania”. The list include and ham and cheese quesadilla and an Irish quesadilla made with corned beef, Swiss cheese, and Sauerkraut and Russian dressing
– Chicken Schnitzel
– Veal
– and Maryland Crab Cakes

Oh yeah…and the diner does psychic readings on Tuesday night. That’s definitely unique!

Before I visited the diner I did some research to discover that their crab cakes are a must. I debated between a crab cake sandwich with fries or the Blue Claw salad. I ended up with the salad…

Their crab cakes are delicious, and I highly recommend them. I also enjoyed the simple Caesar salad that the crab cake was served with. Their croutons were also pretty amazing.

In addition to my meal, I took a pint of their popular lobster bisque to go. Their homemade soups can be purchased to go as pints or quarts.

Overall a great diner to clear up a dreary day!
