Red Lion Diner in Southampton: Review
For me, my visit to the Red Lion Diner in January was a total throwback. I used to frequent there a lot back when my friend lived nearby. This was my first visit back in over 7 years!
The diner itself has not changed at all. I definitely missed “Leo” the Lion. I feel like every diner should have something awesome like this. It’s like he’s outside protecting the diner, ya know?
The diner would not be the same without Leo. Why call it the Red Lion diner if you’re not going to have a majestic lion sitting out front? Right?
Anyway…
The diner has typical diner fare food and slightly higher prices than normal. I had a really tough time finding something to order since I was trying to maintain a certain budget with my meal. Ultimately, I decided on getting something off of their specialty sandwiches menu – a turkey Reuben.
Just like a regular Reuben but with turkey instead. Slightly healthier? I decided to go sans sauerkraut and put the Russian dressing on the side. Perfect for fry dipping. The price was around $12 which was a little steep, but it was a pretty big open face sandwich. I ended up taking half of it home.
It was nice revisiting this diner after so long. It was even nicer to see the beautiful dessert display. I was SO tempted but decided not to get something. This time.
This diner has your traditional diner fare as well as a very nice liquor selection. The Red Lion Diner is just one of the great diners in Burlington County located on Route 206. If you’re traveling and you see it, you should stop on by!
