New Jersey Diner Review #292: Olga’s Diner in Marlton

I’ve been stalking the re-opening of Olga’s Diner for months now so when I found out they were open for business I knew the perfect person to bring, my friend Hollie who I frequent diners with.

I never got the experience of visiting the previous Olga’s Diner, one of the more popular NJ Diners that was opened for over 50 years. Closed for 11 years, it was one of the more famous abandoned places in NJ that I would pass all the time located on the intersection on Route 73 and Route 70.

The new Olga’s is not affiliated with the original but is an “homage” to it. Owners Bill Dovos and Chris Kolovos decided to open Olga’s Diner a mile from where it originally stood. Dovos owns the Penrose Diner in Philadelphia and Kolovos and his family own the Colonial Diner in Woodbury, Lucien’s Manor in Berlin and The Mansion in Voorhees.

I started my meal with a cup of coffee, pleased that they serve NJ’s own Lacas coffee.

Items on their Menu that Stood Out:
– Breafkast Burrito (Scrambled eggs, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cheddar jack cheese, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, homefries)
– Omelettes like Olga’s Omelette (Smoked gouda, spinach, mushroom) and the Kennett Square Omelette (Fresh mushrooms, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese)
– Stuffed French Toast (Cream cheese, honey, cinnamon, fresh berries)
– Red Velvet Pancakes
– Mini Crab Cakes
– Olga’s Meatball (stuffed with fontina cheese, broccoli rabe, pecorino romano)
– A Vegan soup of the day
– 3 Cheese Grilled Cheese (gruyere, white cheddar, provolone, country sourdough, dijon mustard sauce)
– A Kale and Quinoa bowl
– Carne Asada
– Branzino

I could go on and on. It’s quite a menu!

Because it was a rainy day I ended up getting a grilled cheese and tomato soup, the perfect meal for when the weather is gloomy.

It was DELICIOUS! I enjoyed dunking my melty grilled cheese into the creamy tomato soup.

Hollie opted to get something healthier…a quinoa and beet salad which looked really good!

The new owners also brought back Olga classics like their Boston Cream Pie. I saved some room dessert because I felt like I had to have it.

I’m so glad I did! I would easily come back just for this.

Overall this was a great diner experience and the fact that it was PACKED on a weekday afternoon says that people were ready for Olga’s Diner to reopen!
