It’s the first weekend of May (and the last weekend of April)! We’re moving on from April Showers and heading into May Flowers. . Now that it’s warmer, we can leave the house to explore what NJ has to offer (or not, you do you). Here are my top fiften picks for April 29 – May 1, 2022.

The most delicious week of the year is back starting Monday, April 25 and continuing through Friday, April 29. Presented by the Morristown Partnership, this year will mark the 12th installment of the highly anticipated showcase of dining venues in restaurant-rich Morristown. From International flair to American classic, Morristown offers a variety of dining options for families, date nights, business occasions and so much more. In addition to special menus and dining deals, Morristown Restaurant Week boasts special events at many of its restaurants including wine pairings, tasting menus and special entertainment.

Over 20 Gourmet Food Trucks, partnered with some incredible bands, make for an enchanting and fulfilling Spring day. Bring your appetite, lawn chairs, pups, and blankets. Dine on excellent food, while enjoying the beer and sangria garden along with the amazing sounds. Face painting, vendors, kids activities. The event is a benefit for the Chester First Aid Squad & The Chester/Mendham Food Pantry.

Collingswood Green Festival

Celebrate spring and all things green by joining your friends and neighbors at Collingswood’s Annual Green Festival, located just off Haddon Ave on Irvin Ave near the PATCO High Speed line. Enjoy Local sustainable food, organic gardening, water conservation, renewable energy, environmentally-friendly construction, and more. You will also get an opportunity to learn about smart green living from local activists and experts. New Jersey Folk Festival
April 30
A family-friendly one day folk festival featuring three stages of music, dancing, craft vendors, children’s activities, and food. This year’s theme is “On the Move: Transportation and Migration” which highlights ideas of transportation, migration, and life in motion. This festival is not only for fun but it serves to educate people on the culture and history of traditional indigenous people, multicultural forms, and artists in New Jersey. It showcases the folk tradition and aspires to share it with the younger generations.

Galloway Art Festival
April 30, 10AM – 5PM
The Galloway Arts Festival will feature music, dance and visual arts over the course of the day on April 30 throughout the Smithville Village. Guests will be able to follow a master schedule of performances, led by the Absegami performing arts, and enjoy some interactive activities as well. Join Smithville as the community comes together to celebrate the arts in the forms of jazz, choir, brass bands, theater, dance, drumming and more. Rain date for this event is May 1st.

Bordentown City PorchFest
April 30, 12PM – 5PM
This family event features musicians of all genres and styles playing free shows on porches throughout the City. Attendees are invited to stroll from porch to porch and relax on front lawns and sidewalks as they enjoy live, local talent. Neighbors offer their porches where performers volunteer their talents. They pair the two and performances are held throughout the City. A PorchFest guide listing host porches and performance schedules will be available before the event.

Food Trucks Spring Fling
April 30 & May 1,2 sessions to choose from each day: 11AM – 3PM, 4PM – 8PM
Lots of food trucks, Dj Dave, a petting zoo, clowns, cornhole, 18 holes mini golf, horseshoes, inflatable slide, VIP fire pits, Vendors, ATMs, Liquor, Beer & wine! Lots of seating with 100s of socially distanced picnic tables. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Valerie Fund’s Camp Happy Times, a one-week overnight camp experience for any child aged 5-21 who has or has had cancer.

Music all day and a dance performance from Motion Arts Studio on Maplewood Ave at 1 pm on Maplewood Ave. Handmade artisans will exhibit their work both indoors at The Woodland as well as outdoors on the busy streets of Maplewood Ave., Highland Pl., and Baker St. Admission is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
