New Jersey Earth Day Events for a Greener Tomorrow

As Earth Day approaches, people all around the world are preparing to celebrate and raise awareness about environmental issues. There are plenty of New Jersey Earth Day events this weekend that you can attend and ways to get involved in your local community. From outdoor activities to educational workshops and volunteer opportunities, there are events for everyone to enjoy.

Celebrate Earth Day with Merrell and Friends at Mountain Creek Resort
April 22, 9 am – 5 pm
Join Merrell and friends on Earth Day 2023 for an event of fun-filled adventures and activities!

The event will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 at Mountain Creek Resort located in Vernon Township, NJ. The morning session will include a trail cleanup hike and run using Merrell shoe models like the Moab 3, Moab Speed, Nova, and Antora. Merrell will provide the cleanup supplies, and attendees need to arrive 15 minutes early to start promptly. Throughout the day, there will be workshops covering survival skills, rope-tying, and yoga led by experts from Urban and Outdoor Survival, Ropes Rigging and Trees, Mappy Hour, and Merrell. Attendees can enjoy snacks and beverages and have many chances to win eco-friendly swag. There will also be a raffle for a free pair of Merrell shoes, and all net ticket sales will go directly to Leave No Trace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to preserve the natural world through volunteer work, research, and education. The event is open to all, and ticket sales are final.

Earth Day Market
April 21, 4 pm – 7 pm

Earth Day at the Green Market features native plants ready to go in your yard and garden right now! Plus birdhouses, featured crafts, fresh bread, yummy baked goods, local honey, flavorful food and drinks and more! Plus stop by the local “Junk in your Trunk” area to pick up small household items —- for free — as part of their reuse initiative.

Celebrate Trails Day – Earth Day on the East Coast Greenway
April 22, 8 am – 2 pm
Celebrate Trails Day is Saturday April 22 this year. FreeWalkers is delighted o join Stephen Dunn, the Biking Fireman, at this impactful event to promote the development of the Rahway Valley Railroad (RVR). You will walk north along the RVR, west along the ECG and east on the Boulevard to return to Cranford. Following the walk all are invited to join at Two Ton Brewing Co. in Kenilworth to celebrate.

Earth Day at the NJ Botanical Garden

Earth Day is Saturday, April 22. There’s no better way to celebrate than with a visit to NJBG, where you’ll find the beauty of nature and a soothing respite from this busy world. The Botanical Garden is open 8 AM to 8 PM every day and is free of charge.

Earth Day Nature Walk
April 22, 9 am – 11 am

Join for a guided tour at the Ridgefield Park Nature Preserve! Bring your camera, binoculars and outdoor boots. Attendees should gather at the nature preserve’s parking lot by 9:00AM. An expert guide will be present from the Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission. This is an all ages event.

Collingswood Green Festival
April 22, 9 am – 2 pm
Celebrate spring and all things green by joining your friends and neighbors at Collingswood’s Annual Green Festival, located just off Haddon Ave on Irvin Ave near the PATCO High-Speed line. Enjoy Local sustainable food, organic gardening, water conservation, renewable energy, environmentally-friendly construction, and more. You will also get an opportunity to learn about smart green living from local activists and experts. Earth Day Celebration 2023

(9:30am – 2:00pm): Official Earth Day Celebration at Crane Park, Montclair, NJ 07042. Environmental Proclamation by Montclair Township elected officials. Our volunteers will gather at Crane Park for cleanups on Pine Street, Erie Park, Brookdale Park, and Glenridge Avenue (behind the Bay Street Train Station). Details will be provided after registration.

(10:00am-2:00pm): Gates Avenue between Bloomfield and Glenridge Avenues: Electrical Vehicles (EV) Exhibition sponsored by Montclair Climate Action, Green Faith & NJ Sierra Club. See EVs, talk with EV drivers, hear about their experiences, and hear about the benefits of EVs. Just down the street from the Northeast Earth Coalition Earth Day celebration at Crane Park.

Earth Day Celebration

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, Cape May County Park & Zoo will co-host its Annual Earth Day Celebration with the Cape May County MUA. Celebrating “Every Day is Earth Day”, it will be the largest Earth Day event in Cape May County. There are plans for more local and global environment friendly exhibitors than ever before.

The Cape May County Park and Zoo is the perfect location for this day of fun and learning. Hands on educational exhibits, children’s amusements, live entertainment, a variety of environmental eco-shops, scavenger hunt; all which will guarantee a day of earth friendly fun. Large tents on the center field will showcase educational exhibits. The Bandstand nearby will feature the entertainment for the day. Crafters, various vendors, and a food court surround the field and complete the venue.

The Earth Day Festival is a wonderful opportunity for the Paterson community to come together and make a positive impact by engaging in nature-based activities and taking an active role in planting out Eastside Park’s Learning Garden. The garden in turn supports local wildlife and the children who come to Eastside Park to learn, play and feel more connected to nature where they live.

This special free event will feature children’s activities that include story time; spring veggie taste tests; plant your own lettuce station; nature crafts including mud creations, seed collages, and seed sensory activities; scavenger hunts; planting veggies and seeds; lawn games including corn hole and connect four; a gratitude tree; and more.

Earth Day- Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Terracycle!
April 22, 1 pm – 3 pm
The event kicks off with repurposing plastic bottles and turning them into bird feeders. Afterward you’ll assist in cleaning up the area. This event will help with your difficult-to-recycle items, which would normally end up in landfills, and send the waste to Terracycle and demo how you can continue doing this throughout the year. The best part is that every ounce of waste collected as part of Terracycle’s Free Recycling rd points can be converted into donated funds to the Support Network.
