The New Jersey Sunflower Trail
All August Long, 10 am – 5 pm
The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is now open for visitors. On select weekends, expect food trucks, a beer and wine garden, live music, axe throwing, and crafters. Enjoy hayrides, an Activity Area, and additional food options, including beer from Buttzville Brewing Company. Weekday activities include exploring the sunflower trail, taking photos at over 20 spots, picking fresh raspberries and peaches, and visiting farm animals.

“Jaw-some Adventure” at Adventure Aquarium
All August Long, 9:30 am – 5 pm
Adventure Aquarium is celebrating Shark Week with its “Jaw-some Adventure” summer programming, highlighting the Northeast’s largest collection of sharks through thrilling exhibits and interactive experiences for all ages. Guests can snorkel beside sandbar and sand tiger sharks in a 550,000-gallon tank for a limited-time price of $99.99, go behind the scenes of Shark Realm for $19.99, walk the world’s longest rope Shark Bridge, touch real sharks, and view a rare great hammerhead up close. Included with general admission are Shark Chats, dive presentations, the Touch-a-Shark experience, a 360° Shark Tunnel, and the chance to symbolically adopt a shark. Indie Street Film Festival
August 18 – 24
Indie Street Film Festival is a regional film and arts festival that combines its curated film selections with connective community events in order to celebrate human creativity and storytelling. ISFF is searching for films that voice high impact human stories from across all genres. We hand pick the most resourceful and innovative filmmakers from the US and across the globe to screen and connect with the engaged arts community of Red Bank and the Northeast. In the last 8 years, the festival has touted films that have also been official selections/nominees and award winners at Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW, Spirit Awards, and the Oscars.

Happy Day Farm U-Pick Sunflowers and Zinnias

Happy Day Farms offers engaging activities and stunning floral displays. Operating hours are from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday through Friday, with extended hours until 7pm on Saturdays and regular closing time on Sundays. Visitors can enjoy refreshing treats, feed goats and chickens, and admission is $18 per person, including access to the sunflower and zinnia fields. Cash payments only. A tractor ride is provided for transportation to the fields. It is recommended to bring cutting shears and a water bucket, with galvanized buckets available for purchase.

Hunterdon County Fair

The Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair runs from August 21-25, 2024, at the South County Park Fairgrounds in Lambertville, NJ. The fair offers free admission and $15 parking, featuring livestock exhibits, agricultural displays, rides, food vendors, and various family-friendly activities. The event showcases local talent and provides an engaging community experience.

LSC After Dark: Pride Prom

Jersey City proudly celebrates August as LGBTQ+ Pride Month. On August 21st #LSCAfterDark is partnering with JC Pride to bring you Pride Prom. Argos Farm Sunflower Festival

The annual Argos Farm Sunflower Festival returns for 2025 offering visitors the chance to stroll through vibrant sunflower fields at the perfect golden hour for breathtaking photos or to pick blooms for an additional fee. St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church is proud to host the Inaugural OPA Greek Fest Friday, August 22-24, 2025! The New Jersey Folk Festival

The New Jersey Folk Festival (NJFF), one of the nation’s longest-running celebrations of folk traditions, returns this year for its 50th anniversary on August 23rd, 20205. This milestone event will showcase the richness of folklife and folk arts across the state, bringing together musicians, dancers, artisans, storytellers, cultural groups, and local vendors for a full day of festivities. Best of all, admission is free. Presented in partnership with the Arts Institute of Middlesex County, the 2025 festival is part of the FolkLIVE series, which highlights both global traditions and homegrown talent. As New Jersey’s oldest and largest folk festival, NJFF continues its mission to preserve and share diverse cultural heritage through live performance and community engagement.

Women’s Equality Day Festival

The Alice Paul Center’s 4th annual Women’s Equality Day Festival will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 12-4PM at historic Paulsdale, childhood home of suffragist Alice Paul. This free public event welcomes over 500 visitors annually and features 50+ women owned businesses and organizations from across NJ and PA. This year’s event will feature free tours of Paulsdale, kids’ activities, including a bounce house and craft making, a beer garden, local food trucks, live music, and 50/50 raffle opportunities.

Jersey City Pride Festival
August 23, 1 pm – 9 pm
The Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival celebrates the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer, intersex, and asexual communities and allies of Hudson County and the New York City Metropolitan area. Last year, the official estimate of attendance at the festival was 25,000 people. The Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival is recognized not only as the premier LGBTQ+ event in Hudson County but also as one of the largest pride festivals in New Jersey.
