It’s New Jersey Sunflowers Season! Where to Find Fields, Mazes, and U-Pick Spots 2022

It’s Sunflower Season*! This beautiful, seasonal flower can be found in bloom from late August to as late as October. New Jersey aka the Garden State has plenty of beautiful farms that host the tall, sunny flower that are available as u-pick farms, mazes, and more.

Due to the ongoing restrictions and safety regulations with Covid-19, please verify these events before attending in case of any last-minute cancellations. And always check the weather!

*Note: This guide is for 2022. There are more sunflower fields in NJ that are not open this year or have already closed for the season.

Sussex County Sunflower Maze (Sussex County)
101 Co Rd 645, Sandyston, NJ
The first sunflower maze in NJ and the largest on the east coast. This family-owned and operated farm is open from late August to mid-September. In addition to sunflowers, the farm hosts a mega pet adoption event every Labor Day weekend. There are also local vendors, produce available for purchase, and has an orginal book, “Sunny and the Sunflower Maze”, for sale.

Brodhecker Farm (Sussex County)
2 Branchville-Lawson Rd, Newton, NJ
For over forty years three generations of the Brodhecker family have been a part of the agriculture community in Sussex County New Jersey. The farm that raises beef, sheep, pigs, chickens, hay, straw, mulch, corn, wheat, oats, and of course – sunflowers. Sunflowers are available for purchase or u-pick.

The New Jersey Sunflower Trail (Warren County)
438 NJ-57, Washington, NJ
The New Jersey Sunflower Trail at Von Thun Farms is open daily from 10am – 5pm during sunflower season. Price of admission includes access to the New Jersey Sunflower Trail, photo op areas, a farm animal barnyard area as well as admission to the picking fields and a hayride around the farm. U-cut sunflower are 3 stems for $6 or $3 per stem.

Alstede Farms (Morris County)

Traverse Alstede Farm’s Blooming Giants Sunflower Trail to see these giant beauties up close while capturing the perfect photo as a keepsake. Visiting the majestic sunflower trail is included with your pick your own admission. Spend the day in the country picking in the fields and orchards learning about how food is grown. Enjoy abundant panoramic photo opportunities along their scenic tractor drawn wagon rides. The sunflower trail is open every day in season, typically July through October. Subject to change as crops are weather dependent

Stony Hill Farm (Morris County)

Enjoy over 2 acres and 8 varieties of sunflowers at Stony Hill Farms. In one field, guests can walk through the fields, linger, and photograph as they please. In their second sunflower field, guests may cut their own sunflowers.

Holland Ridge Farms (Monmouth County)
86 Rues Road, Cream Ridge NJ
Stare in awe at the flower fields, bursting with sunflowers, gladiolus, dahlias, lilies, and mums. Plus, special weekend events including a food truck festival, crafts and live music festival, a family fun weekend, as well as flower promos. Their 2022 season will run from Friday, September 23rd – Sunday, October 23rd.

Johnson’s Family Farm (Burlington County)

If you’re looking for a picturesque destination for fun fall adventures, look no further. Johnson’s Farm is home to one of the most visited sunflower maze in NJ. They’ve been growing sunflowers for years, and this year they want to show them to you in a whole new way. The Sunflower Celebration is a fun-filled experience with a wagon ride, pictures in the sunflower maze, and flower picking.

Dalton Farms (Gloucester County)

Dalton Farms welcomes you for their fourth U-Pick Sunflower Season. They will be open daily from 11am-7pm(M-F) & 10-7(Sat/Sun). Ticket prices are $12 (plus NJ sales tax and ticket site convenience fees). Cut your own sunflowers for $2 per stem or 10 flowers for $10.

Ward’s Farm (Salem County)

Ward’s Farm is a certified organic, cut flower farm with sustainable agriculture practices that was established in 2012 by Allen and Alyssa Ward. They specialize in sunflowers and dahlias. Visit the farm for ‘Pick Your Own’ events on over 10 acres of Sunflowers & Cut Flowers.
