It’s New Jersey Sunflowers Season! Where to Find Fields, Mazes, and U-Pick Spots 2024

Welcome to the beginning of New Jersey Sunflower Season! This enchanting flower, which blooms from late Summer through October, graces us with its vibrant presence. The Garden State is home to numerous exquisite farms proudly showcasing these tall, radiant sunflowers. Visitors can enjoy various activities, including u-pick farms, mesmerizing mazes, and so much more.

New Jersey Sunflower Guide 2024:

North Jersey:

The New Jersey Sunflower Trail (open now – Labor Day)
438 NJ-57, Washington, NJ  (Warren County)
The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is now open for visitors. It features Sunflower Festivals on July 27-28, August 3-4, and August 10-11, promising a summer highlight with food trucks, a beer and wine garden, live music, axe throwing, and crafters. For weekend fun starting July 20-21, enjoy hayrides, an Activity Area, and additional food options, including beer from Buttzville Brewing Company. Weekday activities include exploring the sunflower trail, taking photos at over 20 spots, picking fresh raspberries and peaches, and visiting farm animals. Ticket prices start at $12.99 per person on weekdays, $14.99 on weekends, and $19.99 during the festivals.

Alstede Farms (open now – October)
1 Alstede Farms Ln, Chester, NJ (Morris County)
Traverse Alstede Farm’s Blooming Giants Sunflower Trail to see these giant beauties up close while capturing the perfect photo as a keepsake. Visiting the majestic sunflower trail is included with your pick-your-own admission. Spend the day in the country picking in the fields and orchards learning about how food is grown. Enjoy abundant panoramic photo opportunities along their scenic tractor-drawn wagon rides. The sunflower trail is open every day in season, typically July through October. Subject to change as crops are weather dependent.

Ort Farms (now – end of August)
25 Bartley Road, Long Valley, NJ (Morris County)
From mid-July to the end of August, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant beauty of sunflowers and engage in the delightful experience of creating their own DIY cut flower bouquets at the enchanting location. The sunflower trail serves as a picturesque backdrop, offering visitors the perfect setting for memorable moments. The Early Bloomer Weekend on 7/19-7/20 and the Summerfest on 7/26-7/27 are highly recommended events, providing a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate the magnificent allure of summer.

Stony Hill Farm (August)
8 Rte 24 (Rt 513), Chester, NJ (Morris County)
Enjoy over 2 acres and 8 varieties of sunflowers at Stony Hill Farms. In one field, guests can walk through the fields, linger, and photograph as they please. In their second sunflower field, guests may cut their own sunflowers.

Sussex County Sunflower Maze (open mid-August – Mid-September)
101 Co Rd 645, Sandyston, NJ (Sussex County)
Prepare to explore the premier sunflower maze in New Jersey, which also happens to be the largest on the entire east coast. This charming farm, owned and operated by a dedicated family, welcomes visitors from mid-August to mid-September. Besides the captivating sunflowers, the farm hosts an extraordinary mega pet adoption event every Labor Day weekend. You can also find a delightful array of local vendors and fresh produce for sale. Don’t forget to grab a copy of their captivating book, “Sunny and the Sunflower Maze,” an original creation available for purchase.

Brodhecker Farm (opens mid-August)
2 Branchville-Lawson Rd, Newton, NJ (Sussex County)
For more than four decades, the Brodhecker family, spanning three generations, has been an integral part of the vibrant agriculture community in Sussex County, New Jersey. Their diverse farm proudly raises an assortment of livestock, including beef, sheep, pigs, and chickens, alongside cultivating an array of crops such as hay, straw, mulch, corn, wheat, oats, and, of course, sunflowers. Starting in mid-August, you can enjoy the opportunity to purchase these magnificent sunflowers or partake in a delightful U-pick experience.

Central Jersey:

Happy Day Farm (now – August 25)
106 Iron Ore Rd, Manalapan, NJ
Happy Day Farms offers engaging activities and stunning floral displays. Operating hours are from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday through Friday, with extended hours until 7pm on Saturdays and regular closing time on Sundays. Visitors can enjoy refreshing treats, feed goats and chickens, and admission is $18 per person, including access to the sunflower and zinnia fields. Cash payments only. A tractor ride is provided for transportation to the fields. It is recommended to bring cutting shears and a water bucket, with galvanized buckets available for purchase

Arrowhead Farmstead  (Now – August 4)
Spanning over 15 acres, the sunflower fields at this Manalapan farmstead offer perfect photo opportunities. This year, visitors can expect a prehistoric twist with T-Rex and other dinosaur appearances in the fields. Dino Fest will feature life-sized dinosaur interactions, captivating dinosaur shows, live music, and engaging exhibits that provide a deeper look into the world of these ancient creatures.

Clark Farms  (Now – August)

Sunflowers  and zinnias are available for u-pick and photographs. If you forget your snipping shears, they can give you ones to use. They recommend bringing a bucket for water.

Argos Farm Sunflower Festival (August)
Argos Farm, 1250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ
This annual Sunflower Festival features live music, delicious blueberry treats, Summer photo ops, and of more! Admission Ticket Includes: LIVE MUSIC entry into activity area with unlimited access- Double Hay Slide, Bee Zip Line, Jumbo Jumper Air Pillow, Gauntlet Obstacle Course, Cow Train Rides, Peddle Carts, Ball Zone, Wall Ball, Checkers, Corn Hole, Tractor Slide, Big Chair, and Photo Ops.

Holland Ridge Farms (September 13 – October 14)
86 Rues Road, Cream Ridge NJ (Monmouth County)
Stare in awe at the flower fields, bursting with sunflowers, gladiolus, dahlias, lilies, and mums. Plus, special weekend events including a food truck festival, crafts and live music festival, a family fun weekend, as well as flower promos.

Snyder’s Farm Sunflower Trail (October)
586 South Middlebush Rd, Somerset, NJ (Somerset County)
The U-Pick Sunflower trail at Snyder’s Farm is held during October’s fall festival weekends. To access the trail, participants must have admission to the Fall Festival and pay $2 per sunflower. Snyder’s Farm offers a well-organized day of family fun, including pumpkin picking, enjoyable activities, and a variety of fall comfort foods. The Fall Festival operates from 11am to 6pm on weekends, with the last entry and wagon ride to the event field at 4:30pm. Please note that Snyder’s Farm is closed on Columbus Day.

Emery’s Farm  (Begins in early September)
346 Long Swamp Road, New Egypt, NJ
Emery’s has been proudly growing and selling directly to customers for over 70 years. They are known for their famous pies, baked fresh daily, seven days a week. In addition to pies, the shelves are stocked with a wide variety of jellies, preserves, spreads, and other delicious items, all packaged in mason jars. Theire Fall season is a great time to visit Emery’s Farm, with corn fields, hayrides, and pumpkin picking.

Bullock Farms (late September – October)
83 Emleys Hill Road, Cream Ridge, NJ (Monmouth County)
At the Bullock Barnyard, families can enjoy a variety of activities together. Kids can have a great time in the Corn Crib, Straw Mountain, and Kids Maze. They can also play in a converted grain truck with slides. The Barnyard is home to friendly animals like donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, and ducks. Visitors can interact with these adorable creatures. Moreover, the Barnyard features expansive fields filled with beautiful sunflowers and zinnias, perfect for exploration and capturing memorable photos.

South Jersey:

Timberline Farms (Now –  TBD)

Every summer, the expansive 2-acre u-pick sunflower field comes alive, transforming into a mesmerizing spectacle. With an impressive array of over 35,000 meticulously planted sunflowers, the field provides an ideal backdrop for picking sunflowers and creating cherished memories with family and friends. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit, visitors are kindly requested to make reservations and purchase tickets in advance, granting them access to this breathtaking sunflower paradise.

Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm (Now – October)
2691 Monmouth Rd., Jobstown, NJ (Burlington County)
Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm boasts two vibrant sunflower seasons, spanning from now through August and then from September to October. Visitors have the delightful opportunity to pick their perfect sunflower bouquet, along with other seasonal produce, right on site.

Johnson’s Family Farm (August 1 – TBD)

If you’re looking for a picturesque destination for fun fall adventures, look no further. Johnson’s Farm is home to one of the most visited sunflower maze in NJ. They’ve been growing sunflowers for years, and this year they want to show them to you in a whole new way. The Sunflower Celebration is a fun-filled experience with a wagon ride, pictures in the sunflower maze, and flower picking.

Dalton Farms (late August – October)
660 Oak Grove Rd, Swedesboro, NJ (Gloucester County)
Enter the farm to witness endless rows of captivating sunflowers, boasting a stunning variety from years of meticulous planting. Every weekend, an abundance of flowers awaits your enjoyment. Capture precious moments in the sunflower fields, posing at hidden photo stations with colorful doors, butterfly wings, or Dalton Farms frames. On weekends, delight in local music, delectable food, and the possibility of wine tastings and paddle boat rides.

Sunset Flower Farm (Fall TBD)
550 Hands Mill Road, Belleplain, NJ
Sunset Flower Farm takes great pride in the quality, freshness, and presentation of their cut flowers. Among the standout varieties grown on the farm are peonies, sunflowers, and hydrangeas. To guarantee the best quality, the team is often seen harvesting flowers in the early morning or late evening, ensuring lasting freshness for their customers. Sunflower fields will be in bloom in Autumn; check their Facebook page for updates.

Hill Creek Farms (Opens September 13)
1631 State Highway 45, Mullica Hill, NJ
Hill Creek Farms is a family-owned and operated U-Pick Farm, with an on-site bakery, special event venues, a wine garden, a farm market, and a bunch of friendly activities. Kids will enjoy barrel train rides, the Gem Mining Company, a playground, and face painting.
