13th Child Brewery: Devilishly Good Beer Brewed in Williamstown

Located in Main St in Williamstown, 13th Child Brewery is a cool spot that had their grand opening on Friday the 13th in April of 2018.

It’s a cozy brewery that once was an old bank building. Its unique triangular shape features multiple smalls brewing vats, access to two bars, and plenty of seating. If you’re looking to catch whatever spots game is currently airing, the brewery offers large TV screens for your convenience.

The brewery’s name was chosen by the community of Williamstown, who came up with it when the owners put it to a vote. 13th Child is based on the infamous (possible current NJ resident) the Jersey Devil who was rumored to be the 13th Child of the Leeds family who resided in the Pine Barrens.

The brewery has eight beers on tap, impressive for a brewery of it’s size. You can sample various IPAs, blone ales, red ales, stouts, wits, ryes and whatever else is rotating on tap. Because their batches are small and they have multiple vats, they are able to produce different types of beers depending on when you visit.

I sampled four different brews in a flight:
– Little Blonde Brau; a blonde ale
– Two Ton Honey Bun; a sweeter double IPA
– Battar Ya Red; a red ale
– Cross Eyed Piper, a Scottish style ale which a 9% ABV

Since I’m not a huge IPA person, I was partial to their blonde ale which appears to be on their flagship beers. I also enjoyed, and potentially got a buzz from the Cross Eyed Piper.
