Great Adventure’s Fright Fest/Kids Boo Fest

This year Six Flags Great Adventure theme park will be celebrating 30 years of Fright Fest. The notorious event returns with 30 nights of a thrilling experience from eight heart-racing haunted houses, six terrifying scare zones and four ghoulishly entertaining shows. And there’s something for the whole family. Kids Boo Fest is open on the weekends starting Sept. 16 through Oct. 29. Six Flags theme park will be decorated in its fall finest with mums, pumpkins, cornstalks and hay bales. Attractions include trick-or-treating in Cornstalk National Park, the Hunt for Boo, fun-filled wagon rides, and a live show called Witch’s Brew.

Addams Fest

The town-wide celebration of Charles Addams, the creator of the Addams Family, is returning with old favorites and new surprises. The event includes art galleries, window displays, tours, an ale garden, a masquerade ball and so much more.

Pumpkin Patch at Carnegie Diner & Cafe
Now – October 31, 7 am to 11 pm

Carnegie Diner & Cafe is opening the Pumpkin Patch at their Secaucus location (700 Plaza Dr) ahead of Halloween! In an effort to support the community, Carnegie Diner & Cafe will become a sprawling autumn hotspot, selling pumpkins to benefit students and youth in Secaucus. In cooperation with S.A.I.L. (Service Activities Involvement Leadership), all pumpkin sales earnings will be donated to the S.A.I.L Club, which consists of approximately 125 students in grades 9-12. Their outdoor space will be transformed with hay, autumn decor, and a photo-genic array of small and large pumpkins for sale now through October 31st.

Halloween Light Show at Demarest Farms

Day Time Spooky Wild West Fest

Take part in a fun and spooky interactive Western experience. Haunted Wild West Fest

When the sun sets, fear goes up at Wild West City. Enter the town at your own risk… there is only one way into the town, first you must endure the perilous journey aboard the Wild West City Train Line and then walk the old Frontiersman Trail where the ghost of John West the Frontiersman lingers. The nightime Fest is considered to be PG-13. For younger children and a less spooky event, the daytime festival from 10:30am- 4:00pm, features the ghost town, Western entertainment and a costume contest.

Brookdale Haunted Theater

Brookdale’s annual Haunted Theater – designed, built and run by current and former students – is a delightfully scary, tormented trip through evil creatures, ghouls and ghosts, bloody body parts, and more. The popular Haunted Theater redefines “stage fright” for its many visitors during the walking tour of a maze of blood-chilling rooms.

Night of Frights

Enjoy the village grounds and historic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries…visit with our ghosts, ghouls, and monsters. Witches Paddle for a Cause

The witches and warlocks are coming back to Spring Lake to paddle on October 14th at 10 am (rain date Oct 15th @ 10 am). Registration is $35 per paddler, a portion to be paid to this year’s recipient – Friends of the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center which supports the facility designed to minimize the trauma child victims experience in a physically and psychologically safe environment.

This event is a family-friendly haunted walk-thru for young and old alike. Proceeds benefit HCSV Foundation, a non-profit living history museum. Join in as they pierce the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

Fear In The Forest
October 20 & 21 (Open at dark, closes at 10 pm)

This family-owned and operated Haunted Attraction is Hidden Deep in the woods of Pemberton Township, NJ. As you turn off of NJ State Route 70 and go through creepy dark cranberry bog roads, keep a look out for the Jersey Devil, and More! This DARK DARK ride through the bogs and into the woods will give you goosebumps, but keep an eye on the road one WRONG TURN will lead you into the middle of nowhere with no way out. Be sure to follow the bones to the CABIN IN THE WOODS where the Frights and Fears will begin. The Ghosts and Ghouls of this Family Blueberry farm will come out of nowhere, so make sure you watch your back, you never know what’s about to attack. If you make it from your car to the ticket booth make sure you look out for RELLIK and CHAOS there is no holding them back. Once your group leaves with the tour guide there is NO TURNING BACK. As you walk even further in the woods watch you step and don’t leave your group or you may never see them again. If you survive the walk through be sure to gather at the Cabin for Music and Food.

Costume Pet Parade

Paw Dazzle will host the Annual Costume Pet Parade starting at 1:00 pm. This is, by far, Historic Smithville’s cutest event. Spectators can watch 100+ pets show off their unique Halloween costumes! To enter your pet, you must be pre-registered by calling Paw Dazzle at 609-748-7110. Historic Smithville offers 60 Shoppes, 7 eateries, a carousel ride, train ride, paddle boats and arcade, on site lodging at the Colonial Inn, and over 26 free weekend events!

October 21, 3 pm

HSOC “Howl-O-Ween” Parade Hosted by the Humane Society of Ocean City. Contestants are encouraged to dress themselves and their pooch in zany, fun Halloween costumes in the spirit of the season. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Sports & Civic Center. The parade begins at 3:00 P.M. and the procession is from 6th to 14th Street on the Boardwalk.

All Barracks Eve at the Old Barracks Museum

On Friday, October 27th, attendees can enjoy cider and donuts around a bonfire while listening to chilling tales told by historically outfitted storytellers. Festivities commence at 5 pm and will include living history demonstrations and kids’ activities. Spooky stories will commence at 6 pm. All proceeds from this event support the mission of preservation and education. The Old Barracks Museum, known as a touchstone for colonial and revolutionary history in New Jersey, strives to bring the world of colonial America to life through interpretive programs, exhibits, and preservation efforts. Their goal is to help visitors appreciate New Jersey’s history, the diverse people who shaped it, and its enduring significance.

The event kicks off at 2 pm where they’ll have make-up artists on hand to help give you a good gash, slash or some general damage to “zombify” you and get you ready for the walk around Montclair! Annual Toms River Halloween Parade
October 31, 7 pm

Reported to be the 2nd largest Parade of its type in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records! It’s a parade with plenty of floats and decorative Halloween-themed attractions. Arrive early. It is recommended you arrive about 2 hours prior to the start of the parade. This allows time to get settled and comfortable so the parade can begin on time. In the past, people have put chairs out even earlier. The parade starts at 7:00 pm, from the Toms River Center located at Main Street and Route 37, proceeding South on Main Street, then east on Washington Street, and concludes at Hooper Avenue. Most trophies will be distributed at 101 Hooper Avenue, Ocean County Administration Building.
