New Jersey Diner Review #296: The Route 130 Diner in Delran

While traveling back from Pennsylvania, I met up with friends at the Route 130 Diner in Delran which happened to be a midpoint to my house. Little did I know how popular this South Jersey diner was.

For starters, I love that this diner is 24 hours. I feel like I’m finding less and less 24 hour diners during my travels.

Their menu is an average size for a diner. Not too large but definitely not small! It took a while to find what my heart truly desired, and considering once you get past their sandwiches their menu becomes very expensive.

Items on their menu that stood out:
– Bruschetta
– Stuffed Garlic Leaves
– Fried Mushrooms
– Lots of meals that involved scallops
– a Prime rib sandwich
– Options for cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks
– The “Canadian” burger (made with Canadian bacon)
– Lots of Italian options including veal
– Steaks and seafood (boiled and fried)
– A Breakfast burrito

Since I arrived at the diner hungry bordering on hangry I decided to get a French Onion soup to hold me over. My friend also arrived hungry and got a chicken noodle soup.

As far as French Onion Soups go it wasn’t my favorite (I prefer bread over croutons) but the broth and the cheese on top were great.

What I was not expecting was the full bread basked that came after our soup arrived! Although appreciated, we didn’t need any more food at this point or carbs.

For my meal I got a chicken salad sandwich which is not the most exciting meal (and it’s something I order often), but I was craving it. I subbed out my french fries for a baked potato since I have been eating an insane amount of french fries lately. Diner tip: most diners will let you sub out fries for a baked potato or mashed potatoes for no additional charge.

Their desserts looked incredible…from their cannolis to their cheesecake and everything in between.

I abstained from dessert (despite being very tempted) but my friend got a strawberry cheesecake that looked delightful.
