My October in New Jersey
October! Halloween! Pumpkin Picking! October is definitely one of my favorite months. Here is a list of things I and the NJIB team did in October that will hopefully inspire YOU to do some fun things in New Jersey in November and beyond.

Oct 1st – I kicked off the first day of October at “Milltown Day”, located in the small town of Milltown, NJ. Afterwards I enjoyed a pumpkin ice cream at one of my favorite ice cream places, Milltown Ice Cream Depot located in town.
Oct 2nd – It was a busy Sunday! First I swung by the Le Belle Fete Event, a wedding event in Red Bank featuring lots of great local businesses.
Afterwards I visited the Tails of Hope Beach BBQ fundraiser in Asbury Park, which was a lot of fun AND I actually won something (I never win anything). Please make sure to support local animal charities like Tails of Hope!
Meanwhile, our writer Kristin visited the Veg Fest in Morristown, NJ. For more on her visit, click HERE
Oct 5th – After spending almost 3 days at home being sick, I went out to Gusto’s Grill in East Brunswick, NJ with my parents to celebrate both of our anniversaries. Gusto’s has one of my favorite hamburgers in New Jersey, so I splurged on my diet for the night.
Oct 6th – Knowing I was about to leave on a big vacation, I went to Pithari Taverna, an amazing Greek restaurant located in Highland Park, NJ. Great meal!
Oct 7th – Before leaving on our big trip, we went to the Old Bridge Diner with my in-laws. I love my local diner.
Then we went to Newark Airport, and grabbed some drinks before our big trip! PS I missed most of October since I was away Oct 8th – 19th.
Oct 14th – Our writer Sam went to dinner at the Lambertville Station Restaurant before heading to a beer and ballet event.
The event was hosted by the Roxey ballet and was a friendly sit in on a rehearsal for the show opening the following week. For more information on that trip, click HERE
Then she closed the evening out in Lambertville at the LTC (The Lambertville trading company) for some coffee and dessert.
Oct 21st – Our writer Sam went to the Westhaven farm corn maze to get lost amongst the corn. She also enjoyed a doughnut and some cider on the Allentown farm.
At night my friends and I saw our friends and visited a diner . We went to the All Seasons Diner in Eatontown, NJ. I missed gyros!
Then we stopped by The Glow at the Monmouth Race Track in Oceanport, NJ. Lots of amazing pumpkin sculptures!
Oct 22nd – In the morning we stopped by the Plainfield Donut Shop, which is on my list of one of the best donut shops in New Jersey.
Followed by a trip to the Park Ave Diner in South Plainfield for an epic brunch. For more on my visit, click HERE
Sam had dinner at Liberty Hall Pizza in Lambertville before heading to see the Frankenstein Ballet in its entirety.
Oct 23rd – FINALLY I got to go Pumpkin Picking! My friends and I visited the Red Wagon Farm Market in Manalapan, NJ where I got one big pumpkin and 3 little pumpkins. Great place for pumpkin picking!
Afterwards we stopped by Etsch Farms in Monroe to drink cider, do a corn maze, hay ride, visit the petting zoo and other Fall activities that were on my list of things to accomplish. Fun day!
Oct 26th – It was a beautiful day, so my husband and I took our dogs to Thompson Park in Jamesburg, NJ.
At night we had the amazing experience of meeting Joel McHale and Will Forte at a book signing the Loew’s Jersey Theatre in Jersey City, NJ. We also got to seem them talk to one another about their books on stage, which is an experience I’ll never forget. Great night hosted by Word Bookstores!
Oct 27th – I got to attend the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secacucus. Lots of great pumpkin carvings! See my album HERE
Oct 28th – I was in the Halloween weekend spirit, so I attended a screening Rocky Horror Picture Show at the State Theatre (one of my favorite movies). I loved using my prop bag and some of the creative things that people yelled at the screen. Kind of felt sorry for those Rocky Horror “virgins” who had no idea what was going on (like my husband).
Oct 30th – It was a great afternoon for a parade! I got to spent time at the Bordentown Halloween Parade which had a lot of amazing floats.
Afterwards we hung around Bordentown and looked at some amazingly decorated houses (like this one on Thompson Street).
Followed that up with dinner at Marcello’s, a fantastic Italian restaurant…
And we checked out the Bordentown Ghost Tour! Which was very informative at great..until it downpoured on us.
Oct 31st – Happy Halloween! We greeted Trick or Treaters all night! What fun!
