Beers and Bites at Mud Hen Brewing Co in Wildwood
While visiting Cape May County my family and I met up at Mud Hen Brewing Co in Wildwood, NJ for craft beer and brunch. Open year round, this NJ brew pub has become a popular spot at the Jersey Shore.
With several beers on tap with whimsical names like “Whimsea” (session ale), Duneslager (lager), Cackling Coot (Belgian Tripel) and the Fruitie Patootie (fruit infused blonde ale) there’s plenty to choose from. Their food menu has oysters, wings, bbq, tacos, burgers, and mac and cheese.
In case you’re wondering, Mud Hen Brewing is dog friendly! Dogs are allowed on their large outdoor patio.
While we waited for our family to arrive, my husband and I shared a flight of beer. At Mud Hen Brewing you can choose from their flagship flight (pilsner, wheat, dark, & IPA), Summer flight (pilsner, wheat, grisette, fruitie), or do a custom flight. While we were they had 11 beers on tap.
We decided to order their Summer flight which came with their Mudhen Pils, Holly Beach Wheat, Whimsea, and the Fruitee Patootie (blueberry blonde ale). My favorites on the flight were the pilsner and the fruitie patootie.
Peppy also wanted some beer, but she’s too young…
We also decided to share wings with their Mudhen beer glaze. They also have classic buffalo wings, garlic and herb, and honey sriracha.
Once the family arrived we ordered a lot more food and beer. My niece got their skillet mac and cheese which was AMAZING. (I stole a few bites)
My husband ordered their “Jersey Man” burger which came with egg and pork roll on top. It was a popular order at our table.
And I got shrimp tacos. Because you can never go wrong with tacos!
To wash all this food down, we also ordered a pint of the Cackling Coot, a sweet Belgian Tripel (8% ABV).
The brewery also features corn hole, live music, and specials during the week. They’re also family friendly so be sure to bring the kids.
