My May in New Jersey
Read all about my May in New Jersey! This past month I went to a lot of events, restaurants, diners, Atlantic City, continued my ice cream quest, AND I turned 30. I hope this list inspires you to go out and explore NJ in June, and if you visit any of the places I have listed…tell them I sent ya!
May 3rd – I had the opportunity to visit Barrio Costero, a new restaurant in Asbury Park. Amazing cocktails, amazing food! This Mexican restaurant has it all. (And their guacamole is one of the best)
May 4th – I took my friend out for her birthday to Seville Diner, where we got our favorite dessert: Mousse Mouse! We also could not resist their chocolate cheese cake. I ended up eating the majority of both…

May 5th – I headed to the movies with friends to see an early screening of Captain America: Civil War.
May 6th – Sometimes you just need nachos… We had so much rain this month, that it was a good time to get out and grab some pub food at the North Brunswick Pub.
Another rainy night? Nachos it is! @thenorthbrunswickpub #njisntboring #nachos #njeats #newjersey

May 7th – May 7th was definitely one of the busiest days of the month. I headed up to Morris County and had breakfast at the Roxbury Diner. To see my review, click HERE
Then we headed to the Lake Hopatcong Block Party which was a lot of fun. It was a rainy, foggy day but it was still great to be on the lake. For a review on what to do there, click HERE. To see more pictures from the day, click HERE.
I got to add to my ice cream quest by meeting the guys at Jefferson Dairy.
I also had a chance to eat at a unique food truck, 1 Potato Two, which used potatoes instead of bread for their sandwiches! So good!
After visiting family in the area, we headed to Lake Hiawatha to make sure we got comics for Free Comic Day at Funny Books. The line was around the door and they were really into it.
And then, because apparently I didn’t eat enough, I had Rainbow Cookie Ice Cream at Lake Hiawatha Dairy.
May 11th – I got to go on another diner date with my friend and fellow blogger, Hollie, aka Fueled by LOLZ. We hit up the Millstone Diner, a new diner on Route 33 in Millstone. You can read my review HERE
We also got ice cream from Jake’s Cree-Mee Freeze in Manalapan. I ate a lot of ice cream this month…
May 12th – I headed to Asbury Park to enjoy a beautiful day just hanging out on the beach. It was one of the first nice days this Spring where it wasn’t raining. I had to take advantage of it!
May 13th – New diner review! I went to the Roadside Diner, which has been on my list for a long time! Read my Review HERE
Then I picked up fresh donuts from Doco Donut in Farmingdale before heading to Atlantic City.

May 14th – I checked out the Atlantic City Boardwalk Con! Lots of great panels, and we got to meet some really cool people. More pictures HERE
May 15th – Another busy day!
Started my morning at the Gilchrist Restaurant in Gardner’s Basin. Had very delicious blueberry pancakes!
Then I headed the the Atantic City Aquarium to see some fish and pet some sting rays!
My husband and I were the first people to climb to the top of the beautiful Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City aka the tallest lighthouse in NJ.
Met friends for a late lunch at the Winslow Diner in Sicklerville, where I got an amazing deal on a massive meal.
Finished the day at Dairy Fresh Ice Cream for my ice cream quest. I got salty caramel ice cream and chocolate chip ice cream. I was full, but it was worth it.
May 16th – Anna (aka an Aussie in NJ) and I went to Royale Crowne Ice Cream for another installment of my “NJIB Ice Cream Quest”. This little shop in Hammonton has been making homemade ice cream for 63 years. I had maple walnut fudge ice cream and it was incredible.

Restaurant Village also includes Long Valley Brew Pub, you can read my review on their beer HERE
May 20th – I had the opportunity to go to a pre-opening for Devil’s Creek Brewery in downtown Collingswood. The beer was amazing, and I was so happy I could be there for the historic opening of a brewery in a dry town. You can read my review HERE
I also got to go to another NJ diner in South Jersey, the Meadows Diner in Blackwood. Mmm…grilled cheese. Review posted Sunday!
May 21st- I was out of state visiting family for most of the day, but headed back to NJ for a meeting with the NJIB crew where we had PIZZA. I do love me some pizza.

May 24th – On the 24th I headed to Uncle Jack’s Good 2 Go in Ocean Twp with the NJIB team for Falafel and Hummus. AMAZING! This Kosher restaurant is also gluten free (minus their pita bread) so it fits a lot of people’s dietary needs. All their food was incredible.
May 28th – I spent most of Saturday the 28th being “kidnapped” or “Cydnapped” as I called it, so I could stay away from my 30th birthday surprise party. My two friends took me on an adventure to the movies, the Seville Diner for lunch (East Brunswick), ice cream at Causeway Ice Cream in South River
…and sangria at Ria Mar (also in South River).
May 29th – For a pre-birthday celebration I headed to Asbury Park for fireworks, which luckily were still going on despite rain and fog.
Regardless of the fog, it was really nice to head to the beach Memorial Day Weekend.
The main reason for my visit to Asbury Park was to see Remember Jones perform at Langosta Lounge. The concert was AWESOME, and the band wished me a happy birthday on stage which was pretty amazing!
