Marty’s Place Senior Dog Santuary will host the 2026 Howl-O-Ween Family Fest on October 17

Autumn is bringing back one of central New Jersey’s most anticipated pet-friendly traditions. On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary will host its annual Howl-O-Ween Family Fest in Allentown, New Jersey.

Running from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the event is the sanctuary’s largest annual fundraiser, bringing together animal lovers, families, and canine companions for a festive afternoon dedicated to supporting senior dogs.

The event will take place at the sanctuary grounds (118 Route 526, Allentown, NJ) and will transform into an autumn festival featuring activities designed for both human and canine guests.

Highlights include:

  • K9 Costume Contest: A main highlight of the afternoon, allowing attending pets to show off their festive outfits. Registration takes place on-site and closes at 2:15 PM, right before resident sanctuary dogs and alumni are introduced to kick off the contest.
  • Pie-Eating Contest: Dogs (and their human companions) can compete in speed-eating challenges divided into size categories (Small, Medium, Large/XL).
  • Mini Swim Sessions: Hosted in partnership with 4Paws Adrift, dogs can take a splash in the sanctuary pool. Proof of rabies vaccination is required to participate.

Attendees can sample offerings from local food trucks—including Nomad Pizza, Relish the Dog, The Sandwich Shop Mobile, and Swal Family Creamery. Adults aged 21 and older can visit the designated Beer Garden to enjoy beer and wine selections.

A vendor fair featuring dozens of local artisans, pet care specialists, and craft makers will offer custom goods, pet treats, and handmade gifts throughout the afternoon.

About Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary:

Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary provides a safe, loving environment for senior dogs (typically aged 7 and older) who have lost their homes. The Howl-O-Ween Family Fest directly funds the medical care, housing, and specialized attention these older canines require.

In addition to event entry and activity fees, attendees can support the organization through:

  • 50/50 Drawings: Three winners will be selected (presence on-site at the drawing time is not required).
  • Super Basket Raffle: Featuring donated items and gift certificates from local businesses, regional theaters, and popular brands.

While full sanctuary tours are paused during the festival to keep the environment low-stress for resident dogs, staff and volunteers will have sanctuary residents out to greet attendees during the day.
