The Mark Twain Diner in Union, NJ: Review
Located on Morris Ave in Union, the Mark Twain Diner is one of two Mark Twain inspired diners located in Union County (the other being the Huck Finn Diner, and let’s not forget the Tom Sawyer Diner in Paramus). The diner has been open since 1960 and boasts large homemade and delicious portions.
The Mark Twain Diner features a large and diverse menu making it hard to make a decision. Their two page breakfast menu features everything from a rib eye steak with eggs, chicken and waffles, a gyro breakfast, and fun items from the griddle. They also have a full list of coffee creations and fresh brewed iced tea.
The diner also has appetizer pastas (something I have never seen before), fresh made guacamole, a full salad list with homemade dressings, Mexican and Greek specialties, 8 oz hand crafted burgers, steaks, and seafood. Their menu is HUGE. They also have a list of Jack Daniel’s specials, which include ribs and steaks made with Jack Daniel’s sauce.
I decided to get their grilled souvlaki platter which came with choice of meat, Greek salad, and fries. It was so much food, and it was delicious.
My meal, which was $12.99, also came with choice of soup so I ordered matzoh ball. That matzoh ball was HUGE and very, very good.
Looking to grab a drink? The diner features a full drink menu with everything from beer, wine to the more unique ice cream drinks and jumbo frozen drinks like pina coladas. Not only does the Mark Twain Diner serve liquor, but they have their own lounge which features happy hours, 1/2 price appetizers, and signature cocktails.
