Ivy Stone Diner and Lounge in Iselin: Review
The Ivy Stone Diner and Lounge is a new diner located on Route 1 in Iselin right by the Woodbridge Mall.
I went there on a rainy night not knowing what to expect. I have literally driven past this diner almost every day during it’s construction, and I found it interesting that I could see this giant chandelier inside their diner from my car.
Inside the diner is very curious. It is definitely not your typical diner. For starters, it has not one, not two, not three but FOUR bars inside. One is located right when you walk in, there is another bar and lounge with a dance floor in the back, next to that is another bar that looks like a club, and downstairs is a lounge (hence the Ivy Stone diner AND lounge).
When we were there they had several events going on including karaoke, comedy night, and a band…so they use all of those rooms. Crazy.
The decor of the diner is on the swankier side with lots of lights and smaller chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I definitely felt like I was in a bar with a diner attached then the other way around.
Having said that, their menu was typical diner fare. Breakfast all day, soup and sandwiches, burgers, Greek specialties, multiple entrees and they even had a salad bar! They also had a make your own pasta option and a Mexican/Latino section, which is not something you see every day. Plus you can see their awesome dessert case right when you walk in!
They have a lot of different specials each day at this diner including “Steak Saturdays”, “Seafood Fridays”, “Tequila and Tacos Tuesdays” and “2 for 1 Dinners on Mondays” among them. They also have plenty of drink specials each day including a daily happy hour, Martini Mondays, Wine Down Wednesdays and more.
I decided to get something off the Greek Specialties section, a “Grilled Soulvaki Platter” which had the option of beef, chicken or pork, french fries, pita bread, and a Greek Salad.
It was a LOT of food. For $11.99 I felt like the price point was correct. In fact, their menu overall was reasonably priced.
Overall, even though this diner is not a “traditional” diner I enjoyed the food. Plus, it may be a potential bar for my friends and I to go to. I think it’s worth seeing for yourself.
