It’s New Jersey Isn’t Boring’s 5 Year Anniversary!!
You’d think I’d have something crazy planned for this 5 year milestone, but I’m so busy that I completely forgot this event was even coming up. Time flies…
Anyway…
Five years ago today I started a blog that I didn’t think anyone would read or see. It’s really crazy all the awesome things that has happened for New Jersey Isn’t Boring once I believed I could make it my own business. This is all thanks to YOU and your support. So THANK YOU!
The past 5 years have been very good to me. I have been on lots of New Jersey adventures, been invited to lots of great events, reviewed lots of restaurants, breweries, and vineyards and made friends along the way. My friends and family have been with me from the beginning. I love being able to take them with me on adventures and showing them new things.
Highlights from Year Five Include:
– Starting a Wellness Wednesday feature where I travel all around New Jersey to learn more about overall wellness from fitness, healthy food, meal prep, yoga etc.
– I got to eat PIZZA while meeting PENGUINS at Jenkinson’s Aquarium! One of my favorite days ever.
– I got to judge a Latte Art Throwdown which was a lot of fun
– My new Working from a Coffee Shop series where I can drink delicious coffee, support a small business, and get work done!
– I hit my 250th diner! Woot Woot!
– I got to see George R.R. Martin at the Loew’s Theatre in Jersey City AND got an autographed book.
– I was a vendor twice for the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market and Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar. So much fun!
– So many fun events to check out this year, including the Pier Village Kite Festival which I’ve wanted to check out for so long.
– Lots of live shows/comedy/theater including seeing Weezer in the third row at PNC Bank Arts Center, Mike Birbiglia at Two River Theater, The Princess Bride with Cary Elwes at the Paramount Theater, Star Wars with the NJ Symphony Orchestra, & more
– Spending lots of time in Cape May including feeding giraffe at the Cape May Zoo
– Being able to enjoy Long Beach Island in the Summer, one of my favorite beach town.
– Seeing the first Queen in Medieval Times history
– I was on TV! First time I was interviewed live regarding NJIB for RVNtv.
– Exploring new areas and having fun day trips throughout the state like Sussex County, Salem County, LBI, Cape May, Pitman and more
– and last but not least, going to a NJ Devils playoff game. And they won! And I high fived the Jersey Devil!
Sometimes I pinch myself that I’m able to do all these amazing things in New Jersey, and guest what? You can too!
I also had a chance to create merchandise that I’d want to wear, drink from, and display. Thank you all who have visited the New Jersey Isn’t Boring Store shop. We saw a major increase in sales this past year which has helped me pay my bills…so I’m glad you like what you see! I’ll have new, fun merch which will debut around October in time for the holidays.
I’ve also been able to create sponsorship and marketing opportunities to help support the small businesses that I love. For more on that, click here.
I encourage anyone who has an idea to go out and make a thing! It’s not work if you enjoy it!
I look forward to all the fun things year 6 has to bring! Thank you so much for your support!!
