How to be a Blogger During a Pandemic (Or not…)

It’s the last day of August, Labor Day is next weekend, and soon Autumn will begin. Seriously…where did the time go?

For me, and for a lot of you, this has been the quickest and longest Summer ever experienced. Since March things have been a lot different, and we are all trying to cope and do our own thing to get by.

Personally, I’ve been in a bit of a downward spiral since March and my blog/website showcases that. There have not been many entries, my directories are way out of date, and I stopped notifying the public about events since I personally was so scared to attend them. Basically I kept promising myself I’d get work done “tomorrow” and then weeks would go by.

This is not an apology, but admission to do better. I’ve been on a sort of mental vacation for a while now, and I’m just starting to come out of a dark hole and figure out how to live again. I’ve made a lot of excuses as to why the website has stalled (ie lack of advertising money, lack of things to do etc) but the reality is that I just felt stuck and depressed.

I started New Jersey Isn’t Boring 6 years ago as a creative outlet. A way to express my love of NJ and also provide information on things to do. I learned a lot in 6 years, and I kept for busy for those 6 years. I’d like to make up for the lost time.

Now that things are opening up again even more so I feel like there’s more to talk about, visit, and explore. I want to write about all the cool things that are going on every weekend, inform you how to save local businesses, keep you up to date on free activities to do, and get you excited about living in NJ again. #NJisntBoring

Furthermore, I will be adding entries on things I’ve done over the Summer that I was too lethargic to post. I didn’t do too much…but I did enough to keep myself sane.

So September…bring it on! I will be posting a calendar of events, restarting my weekly things to do this weekend post, and hopefully visit some coffee shops and diners again. I’m looking forward to putting myself out there again, safely of course.

Thank you for your continued support!
