New Jersey Diner Review #298: The Hampton Diner in Newton, NJ

Open since 1993, the Hampton Diner located in Newton is committed to providing Sussex County with the best food and drinks in New Jersey.

Items you can find on their menu include specialty omelettes, gourmet sandwiches, gourmet burgers, gyros, salads, lots of salads, Greek specialties, steaks and chops, seafood and more. They also have a full liqour license with wine, cordials, and cold beer. It’s definitely more of an expensive diner due to the quality of food.

Some unique items you can find include:
– Oven baked omelettes
– Hash Benedict
– Crepes
– Cannoli pancakes
– Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast
– Making a burger bigger for an extra $4
– Made to order guacamole
– Waffle sliders
– Idaho nachos (waffle fries piled high with pepper jack cheese, bacon, and sour cream)
– Maryland crab cakes over mac and cheese
– and lots and lots of dessert

Perhaps what they’re most known for is their “Festive Shakes”.

The diner is also one of the prettier diners I’ve been to. The interior is beautiful with paintings on the wall depicting Greece, plus mosaic tiling.

Ultimately I ordered one of my favorite diner items, a chicken souvlaki sandwich. To switch it up, I asked if my fries could be made “Greek style” which they did for me at no extra cost.

It was a great meal! It was so much meal that I ended up taking half of it home.

Before I left I had to get one of their black and white cookies to go, which were basically the size of my face. It didn’t take long before I ended up eating it.
