Diner Review #282: The Gateway Diner in Westville, NJ
Located in Westville, The Gateway Diner is a cute little diner that sits on Broadway. The diner is family owned and operated for well over 20 years and prides themselves on “affordable family friendly warm service”.
If you’re driving in downtown Westville, look for the giant water tower and you won’t miss the diner! It’s also how I learned why the diner is called “Gateway”, it’s because Westville is the “gateway” to Gloucester County. In fact you’ll see a “Welcome to Gloucester County” sign right before you turn into their parking lot.
Two things stood out to me when I walked into the diner. The first being the rotating dessert case. I haven’t seen one of those in FOREVER.
The second being the jukeboxes on the tables. They are one of my favorite diner attributes and they are going extinct. Save the jukeboxes!
The diner’s menu is simple and affordable. They have breakfast all day, a full list of sandwiches and burgers, homemade pastries, and full meals which included a Surf and Turf. Honestly the only thing that truly stood out to me on their menu was how cheap their prices were.
To start off my meal I got coffee and I was shocked to get my own personal coffee pot. And it was only $1.49!
I was also happy to visit the diner during Fall because as they proclaimed on their menus, PUMPKIN IS BACK. How can I resist pumpkin pancakes?
And it came with a small juice! Is there any other kind of restaurant where you can get a cup of juice this small?
Overall it was a nice spot to visit on a busy Sunday.
