The Galaxy Diner in Rahway, NJ: Review
Living in Central Jersey, and having reviewed 225+ diners, I am running out of New Jersey diners that are less than 45 minutes from my house. So when I needed a last minute diner review for this Sunday I headed to the Galaxy Diner in Rahway.
At first I had been avoiding the Galaxy Diner due to some negative reviews on Yelp. Sometimes it’s best to ignore those kind of reviews and see how something is for yourself. Everyone’s experience is different. Between the close proximity and the positive first hand review of a friend I made my way over there sometime in between the breakfast and lunch rush.
Right of the back I loved the checkerboard of the diner’s exterior. It was very retro! I also liked that it was a 24-hour diner since there aren’t too many of those in Central Jersey.
When I walked in I saw their giant dessert display right away (which looked amazing)…
Plus their salad bar which actually looked really good. It had a lot of options.
Their hostess, who was lovely, offered me both the breakfast specials and the lunch specials menu since I arrived at 10:45am and would most likely be receiving my meal after 11am. I appreciated the gesture, and agreed to it, but immediately regretted because I don’t do well with too many options.
The Galaxy Diner has your typical diner fare and their specials including something “extra” whether it’s soup or the salad bar or dessert. Despite not eating up until this point I was expecting to be hungry, but looking at the specials made me feel too full.
Ultimately I decided on breakfast and ordered a special that came with coffee and juice. And not one of those tiny juice cups diners tend to give out, but an actually glass of OJ. I can’t remember the last time I had orange juice…
For my meal I got Challah French Toast which game with a side of meat (I chose bacon). And that bacon…mmmmmmm…..
It was A LOT of food. Photos don’t do it justice. I ate less than half and took the rest home. Between 3 cups of coffee, juice, and my meal I was FULL. The best part? The entire meal was under $10.
I can only vouch for myself and say that I enjoyed my meal at the Galaxy Diner. Sometimes you need to ignore the haters and see for yourself!
