New Jersey Diner Review #291: Empire Diner in Brooklawn, NJ

The recently opened Empire Diner is located in Brooklawn Diner. The diner owners also own the nearby Piston Diner in Westville. Both diners donate 10% of every meal to local charities which is pretty awesome.

The interior and exterior of the Empire Diner look brand new. It has a red, white, and blue theme with neon lights and chrome. It has a modern and retro look at the same time.

Items on their menu that stood out:
– Texas meatloaf, glazed bbq meatloaf with cheddar cheese and onion rings
– tuna or chicken salad hoagies
– over 17 different kinds of salad
– an insane amount of sandwiches and burgers
– a porkroll sandwich. Just porkroll and cheese
– broiled chicken stuffed with crabmeat and Alfredo sauce
– Jack Daniels New York steak
– 35 mini meals
– a full list of chicken sauté specials
– a full list of seafood sauté specials
– a po boy shrimp sandwich
– a “vegan me” sandwich
– and the Empire Basket (clam strips, chicken fingers, and fish and chips)

The Empire Diner has lots of lunch specials, 41 to be exact, plus early bird specials served from 11-5 with 28 options. That’s a lot of options that give you a lot of food!

I ended up ordering the #27 lunch special; an open faced chicken caprese sandwich.

The sandwich was grilled chicken, tomato, fresh basil on pita. It was delicious and simple and I loved it. I wish all sandwiches came on pita sometimes.

To say that their lunch specials are a good deal is an understatement. For only $10.99 my me came with soup, salad bar, fries, a drink, AND dessert.

For my soup I had a chicken pot pie soup which was something I haven’t had before at a diner.

It was super filling! Basically a chicken pot pie without the crust. It was DELICIOUS! Defintely one of the better soups I’ve had.

My dining partner got the #5, the tuna avocado blt. Which sounded and looked like a great option.

For dessert my friend and I ordered the rice pudding and the bread pudding. Although I ordered the rice pudding, I ended up eating half of my friend’s pudding as well. It was really good.

As a bonus, the diner sells wooden flower bouquets and one of the managers went around and gave everyone a flower at no cost. It was super cute.

Between the great service, food, and prices the Empire Diner was a wonderful NJ Diner experience.
