Diner Round Up: The Silver Coin Diner in Hammonton
Hammonton is a great town in New Jersey and it hosts a great diner: The Silver Coin Diner!
I had driven past this diner the last time I was in town and I really appreciated it’s diner realness, the neon lights and the silver siding made my heart happy.
Walking into the diner kept that feeling going. Retro everywhere! It was packed when we went (Sunday brunch time) so we sat at the counter and took in the view.
I had my eye on a particular sandwich when I did the research on the diner ahead of time, the #4 Chicken Sandwich: Grilled Chicken, Eggplant, Provolone, Pesto on Foccacia Bread. After going through the menu again when I was there, I knew I had to stick to my guns. And I’m glad I did.
It was a great sandwich and it was big enough that I ended up taking half of it home for dinner.
My husband went more the brunch route, and got the Silver Coin Special for $8.48 (Hammonton’s area code, which I thought was cute). The meal is a great deal – French Toast, Hot Cake, 2 Eggs, Sausage, Bacon and Canadian Bacon. The best of breakfast! You can add on home fries and toast for a dollar more.
Overall, it’s a great local diner which definitely has it’s regulars. They have a very diverse menu and an extensive cocktails list. Definitely worth a visit!
