Diner Round Up – The Menlo Park Diner in Edison
The Menlo Park Diner is right by the Menlo Park Mall (one of my favorite NJ Malls) in Edison. It is also right by Roosevelt Park, a great park in Edison where they hold many events, including Plays-in-the-Park!
I went out to dinner there with my husband a couple of weeks ago, while attending an event at the park. I had not been to the diner in a few years, so I was looking forward to go back and give it a “Fresh” review.
The diner is 24 hours, which is always a big plus in my book. It is also a retro looking diner, complete with a diner counter, mirrors, and funky booths. It’s a great look! It even had a jukebox player on the table which was one of my favorite things as a kid. Bigger bonus? It worked!
One of the things I remembered from my last trip, was that it was a little expensive for diner food. That has not changed. Having said that, my meal that night was well worth the money.
For $15 I got soup, salad, bread, a massive main course with 2 sides AND a dessert. Not too shabby!
I began with a Matzoh Ball soup, since that is my favorite, and it was quite delicious. To be honest, I was kind of full by the time my entree came that I barely touched my salad.
For my entree I ordered a roasted turkey, which came with stuffing and an option of 2 sides. I decided to get mashed potatoes and peas/mushrooms.
When I saw the amount of turkey on my plate, I knew there was no way I was a. finishing my meal and b. getting dessert. It was like having a huge Thanksgiving meal all to myself.
I left the diner full and content, with no desire to ever eat again. I did not redeem my dessert because I knew it would never have been eaten.
Overall, I enjoy the quality of food at this diner BUT it is a little pricey. However, in my case I definitely felt the money was worth it.
