Diner Round Up – Jersey Diner in Dayton, NJ
Friday afternoon I got a chance to stop by the Jersey Diner and Restaurant, a diner located on US 130 in Dayton.
I had never been there before and knew no one who had been there before, so I didn’t really know what to expect.
I stopped in there during lunch time, and it was actually decently busy. There was a diverse crowd – cops, politician looking people, elderly people and travelers (it’s somewhat connected to a hotel). They had really good lunch specials too.
Unlike some other diners where I’ve commented on their very large menus, this menu was big but not so big that you have to spend so much time making a decision. I decided on getting a chicken gyro, and I was very pleased with it. I did have to ask for feta cheese since the gyro did not come with it, but luckily I was not charged extra for it. My mom got a big London broil salad which came with soup and dessert, and she wanted me to tell you that her chicken noodle soup was excellent.
Overall the diner was very good. They have limited hours, most days they’re open from 9am – 8pm. If they word “diner” wasn’t attached to the name you might not consider it a “real” Jersey diner, but they serve breakfast all day and it definitely has a diner feel.
