Diner Review #285: DeepWater Diner in Carneys Point
Traveling back from Delaware I stopped at the Deepwater Diner, which is the first diner you can stop at while crossing the New Jersey border.
Located in Carneys Point, off of exit 1B on the NJ Turnpike, the Deepwater Diner is a 24-hour diner located next to a gas station. It’s very convenient, and yes I did stop to get gas.
The diner on a Sunday mid-afternoon the place was PACKED, we were grateful to get a table. Most people were there post church, and the rest were all diner regulars. It was nice seeing the staff meet and greet all their patrons. It’s clearly a local hot spot!
I started my meal with coffee since I was exhausted from driving. Luckily the diner serves NJ’s own Lacas coffee and they have free refills.
Items on Their Menu That Stood Out:
– Their popular chicken pot pie which they only serve twice a week
– Prime Steak and Chops including Ham Steak, Prime Rib, and Beef Liver
– Italian Specialties including something called the Pasta Combo (stuffed shell, manicotti, ravioli, penne pasta and a meatball)
– Fried Oysters
– Mini meals which come at a super affordable price
– Breakfast options like Crabcakes and 2 Eggs and a combo called the “Hotcakes Jamboree”
– a full list of creative omelettes
…and much more.
Ultimately I decided to get a breaded chicken panini which was DELICIOUS.
Hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and the fries were also great. The diner also had the foresight to give extra marinara sauce which was much appreciated.
Overall this was one of my better diner visits!
