Cross Keys Brewery Brings Craft Beer to their Hometown of Williamstown

Cross Keys Brewery, located on N. Main Street in Williamstown, had their official grand opening on May 12th, 2018. I got a chance to visit the brewery during their soft opening the month prior.

Williamstown residents Alan and Alice Gorney as well their friend Evan are the co-owners of Cross Keys Brewery. Both Alan and Evan started out as avid home brewers as far back as the early 2000’s. Evan made the leap into the craft beer industry in 2011 and has been brewing professionally ever since.

It has always been their dream to build and open a NJ-based craft brewery in Gloucester County. The goal of their brewery is to give back to their family, friends, and the local community by providing affordable, fresh craft beers with a family-friendly atmosphere in their hometown.

The name Cross Keys is an homage to the geographic area where the brewery is located (i.e. the nearby Cross Keys airport, Cross Keys shopping center, etc.)

Along with the name, Cross Keys Brewery has a love of keys in their design. I personally loved their bar top, which is a collection of the communities used keys that were donated prior to their opening…

…as well as their key shaped flight deck.

Their beers are brewed with our local community in mind. They use as much domestic and locally-grown raw materials as possible. They are committed to providing “unique ales and lagers that are approachable to new craft beer drinkers, but also cutting-edge enough to satisfy die-hard beer nerds”.

At Cross Keys Brewery you can find a steady lineup including their flagship beers The Blonde Stranger (American Blonde Ale) and Pour Decisions (Farmhouse Ale). You will also find IPAs, double IPAs, stouts, porters and more.

Customers can expect a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a pint of a flight of quality craft beers. Their family friendly environment includes board games, a giant Jenga game, and a comfortable lounge area.

What makes Cross Keys Brewery stand out is thier mission to serve their local community. Although many craft breweries claim to do this, it is their passion. They feel that nothing better than to be able to serve customers who live in Williamstown or who walk to the brewery from nearby neighborhoods.

Additionally, they are actively involved with the township, council and local sports teams and charitable events. They strive to work with and support other local businesses and always remember to treat others as they want to be treated.
