Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in New Jersey
Cinco de Mayo lands on a Thursday this year (as ALWAYS it is May 5th hence the name), and locations in New Jersey are celebrating the Mexican holiday with events starting May 1st until May 5th. Here is a list of events I researched. I will have a link to this post under “Events“ and will add to it if additional events are found.

Cinco De Mayo at Bellview Winery – May 1
On May 1st Bellview Winery will be featuring authentic Spanish music with a flamenco guitarist, chips and salsa platters , a local food truck and most importantly, Sangria! For the first time this year we’ll be serving up our famous sangria in two different flavors. So bring your lawn chair and some sunglasses and come salsa with us! The celebration will be held at the winery from noon to 5pm. Wine tasting is $5 and includes 8 tastes of wine as well as a souvenir glass to take home.

Cinco De Mayo in Bridgeton – May 1st
Spend Cinco De Mayo with the City of Bridgeton. The city will be holding a festival in downton’s Rocket Park at the corner of Commerce and Laurel Streets. Bring the family for a day of fun!

Cinco De Mayo at Camden Gardens – May 5th
On May 5th school students can take flight with monarchs while learning about butterfly migration, explore plants that attract butterflies and birds in the Camden Children’s Garden. Kids can even take home a plant home with you! There is lots to do and learn about, hear about the birds and their adaptations while talking about the importance of butterflies in Mexican culture.

Are you a fast eater? How many chicken wings can you eat in under 5 minutes? Let’s find out at our annual Cinco De Wingo contest. Contestants are given 5 minutes and a pile of chicken wings. Whoever has eaten the most at the end of the buzzer wins the grand prize! This is a fun event for all. It’s a blast to watch and fun to play. MARIACHI Y CALPULLI MEXICAN DANCE COMPANY: Fiesta Cinco de Mayo – May 5
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s performances are like the traditions of Mexico: colorful, passionate, and inviting. The Company has a vibrant repertoire of dance with live music featuring cherished dance traditions, lesser known stories from across Mexico, and original works capturing the Mexican-American spirit. Glorious costumes, contagious rhythms, and captivating performers are the company’s trademarks.
A tribute to the heart and soul of Mexico and the Mexican-American community in the United States, under the Artistic Direction of Alberto Lopez and Music Direction of George Saenz, the Company of 16 dancers and core of musicians will take audiences on a voyage through eras and ethnic communities that comprise Mexican traditions. Founded in 2003, Calpulli is dedicated to the traditions of Mexico and Mexican-American cultural expression through dance and music. Its mission is to celebrate the rich diversity of Mexican and Mexican-American cultural heritage through dance-based programming including live music.

Cinco de Mayo at Chevy’s Fresh Mex in Linden and Clifton – May 5th – 7th
Chevys Fresh Mex’s most fun-filled fiesta of the year – Cinco de Mayo – will take place from Thursday, May 5 through Saturday, May 7, and includes a variety of entertainment, food and drink specials and more.
