A Diner Review Re-Do: The Bridgeway Diner in Old Bridge

Well friends, this is a first…and I’m not sure how many of these I’ll do (probably none) but since it’s the end of the year I decided to re-review the Bridgeway Diner in Old Bridge, which was the first diner review (and the inspiration of weekly diner reviews) for NJIB.

Located on Route 9, the Bridgeway Diner is a nice classic diner located on Old Bridge. It’s conveniently located off a highway close to the Parkway, so it’s a great stop for hungry travelers.

I used to live walking distance to this diner, and I would probably go there once a week. Since I moved, I haven’t been to this diner since my original diner review in March 2014. I decided to re-review it since they’ve been through a lot of changes in 4.5 years.

Things that have stayed the same: they still have a very diverse menu – everything from 3 pages of breakfast food to traditional Greek food, Mexican food and big dinner options. I was also happy to see they still had a salad bar since they have one of my favorite pasta salads.

Some new things on their menu that stood out to me include:
– A Max Fitness Compliment menu for all those Max Fitness work out enthusiasts
– Turtle Pancakes (made with chocolate, pecans, and caramel)
– The OBPD Burgers (Old Bridge Police Dept), a double sized burger with sauteed onions, tomatoes, American cheese, on sourdough bread.
– The Outbridge, an oversized grilled cheese on sourdough bread (So, so, so tempting)

After much deliberation, I decided to get something that I used to get all the time when I lived at my old place. It came with a soup and salad bar, and I decided to get my favorite…matzoh ball soup.

My main course was the Chicken Romano, one of my all time favorite meals that I’ve ever gotten at a diner.

Breaded chicken with mozzarella cheese on top of penne vodka. It’s DELICIOUS and it’s enough for 3 people. I had it for lunch the following 2 days.

I also ordered one of my favorite diner desserts of all time: brownie cheesecake. I couldn’t resist…

Overall I’m very happy I decided to come back to this diner! Although it seemed the same in some aspects, it was also like going to a brand new diner for the first time.
