Blairstown Diner: Review
I had been waiting to go to the Blairstown Diner until I could go on a Friday the 13th. Why? Because the original 1980 movie was filmed there. The diner is forever written into movie pop culture.
The diner is a classic metal diner with lots of chrome. Although the exterior looks the same as it did in the movie, the interior doesn’t look anything like it did which is a shame.
Something that really stood out to me was that the Blairstown Diner does not embrace their Friday the 13th roots at all. No pictures, no signage, nothing cutesy in the menu’s named after anything…I thought that was kind of weird. If it were my diner I would totally capitalize on it, but I guess they get enough popularity for the movie regardless. Oh well.
While we were there my husband was actually interviewed by Channel 69 about Friday the 13th and why we decided to visit. So that was definitely new for a diner experience!
His interview did not make it to air, but we were in a shot! Now I have this screen shot forever…
On to the food…
Their diner menu was one of the cheapest diner menus I’ve ever seen. There was nothing on the menu that was over $11.
Their menu was the most exciting menu I’ve ever seen. It was really simple and wasn’t more than three pages long. They had your typical diner fare like breakfast all day, sandwiches, salads, some Italian entrees, finger food etc. Since there was nothing really on the menu that spoke to me, I decided to treat myself to something I don’t typically indulge in…chicken fingers!
I really enjoyed them!
My diner visit was affordable and easy, which is really all I can ask for in a New Jersey diner. Between that and movie nostalgia, I think it’s definitely a place to visit especially if you’re a horror buff.
