Andros Diner in Newark, NJ: Review
Located on Wilson Avenue, in the heart of the Ironbound District of Newark, sits Andros Diner. This 24-hour Greek diner claims to be the best in New Jersey.
NJIB Tip #1: Be warned, parking in the Ironbound is tough. Be prepared to walk!
The exterior of the diner is different than others, especially since it’s a city diner and it’s connected to other buildings.
The interior of the diner is in a traditional New Jersey style. I happened to be there in the heart of the holiday season so the diner was decorated appropriately.
Things that stood out on their menu:
– The Andros Fries, fries topped with a three cheese blend and crumbled bacon and served with ranch dressing.
– Steak and Eggs, 10 oz. NY sirloin steak served with home fries and toast
– Homemade fried calamari
– Wings and Boneless Wings
– The Fat Burger, Ham, bacon, fried eggs, mayo and ketchup
– The Portuguese Steak Sandwich (which I hear is a must)
Andros Diner is open 24-hours they’re the perfect spot for breakfast at 5am, late night eats, and even drinks since they have a full liquor license.
Because there was so many Italian options on the menu, I decided to order the vegetable panini which was essential an eggplant parm panini with a side of fries.
I was not expecting the portion to be so huge! Definitely a sandwich big enough for 2-3 people.
My husband also got an Italian style option, their chicken parm sandwich. It looked delicious.
NJIB Tip #2: You will be tempted by dessert, even if you didn’t order it while you’re at the table. Their display is endless and I hear they have amazing homemade cheesecake. The only reason I didn’t take any to go was I wasn’t going straight home. Another time. Sigh.
Overall I really enjoyed my trip to the Andros Diner. The food was great and affordable, plus the service was friendly! I would definitely recommend the next time you’re in Newark!
