Working Dog Winery: Review
Do you like wine? Do you like dogs? Then you might just like Working Dog Winery located in Hightstown (Mercer County), New Jersey!
My friends and I ventured there on a rainy day in April. I love that (most) New Jersey wineries are open year round, especially when the atmosphere inside is cozy so it doesn’t matter if it’s gross outside.
We decided to do a wine tasting, which was 5 tastes for $5. They had a pretty extensive wine list ranging from dry to sweet. Since there were 5 tastings I decided to try a little bit from each section of the white, red, and sweet wine. They have a great staff there that will tell you everything you need to know about what you are tasting.
Wines I Tried:
– Chardonnay Oak (2014) – French oak aged, ripe honey, buttery tones
– Equinox (2014) – Dry Rose
– Cabernet Franc (2013) – Cherry, Oak
– Marechal Foch (2014) – Spicy smooth black cherry, vanilla oak
– Sunrise Blush – Sweet Rose, Raspberry Finish
I really enjoyed everything I tasted, but I think the Chardonnay Oak might have been my favorite. I also got to try a few sips of the others wines my friends had and they were great as well! Their Blueberry wine comes from blueberries made in Hammonton aka the blueberry capital of New Jersey so you know it’s good!
After our wine tasting, we bought a few glasses and hung out. It was very cozy there!
Working Dog Winery is dog friendly and I love seeing the owner’s dogs walk around. Cooper, who is a pretty big dog, was very friendly to all the guests at the winery and I enjoyed playing fetch with him.
I really enjoyed going to Working Dog Winery and I intend to go back! It’s a lovely place, plus you can bring food and your dogs!
