Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Hosts Exciting ReDiscovery Weekend April 18–19

Nature lovers and curious explorers of all ages are invited to experience ReDiscovery Weekend at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford, New Jersey, on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19. Running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, this two-day celebration promises interactive fun, educational opportunities, and family-friendly outdoor adventures for all.

Held at the refuge’s scenic 171-acre property located at 4 Sawmill Road, ReDiscovery Weekend is designed to immerse visitors in Cedar Run’s mission of wildlife preservation and environmental education. With a variety of self-guided and instructor-led activities, attendees can enjoy everything from pond dipping and canoeing to animal meet-and-greets and nature-themed crafts.

One of the weekend’s most popular events, the Raptor Egg Hunt, returns on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Young explorers aged 2 to 10 can search for colorful eggs in staggered hunts by age group—ages 2–4, 5–7, and 8–10—and even meet a resident raptor during the festivities. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as space is limited.

Visitors can also:
– Follow the Treasure Trail, a half-mile journey through the White Trail and Wildlife Housing Area.
– Create make-and-take crafts and color wildlife-themed sheets.
– Discover aquatic life during Pond Dipping sessions from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
– Paddle the tranquil waters of Cedar Run Lake during self-guided canoe rides from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
– Join scheduled Wildlife Meet & Greets and Wildlife Housing Tours throughout the day.

In an effort to make the event as inclusive as possible, Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is offering accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing guests on Saturday. ASL-interpreted Wildlife Meet & Greets and Wildlife Housing Tours will be available, thanks to the support of certified interpreter Esther Dietrich, who holds a bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language and Interpreting. Spanish-language accommodations for both tours and animal encounters will also be available on both days.

For those attending on Saturday, the UMMM Ice Cream Parlor will be on-site offering sweet treats to cap off a day of discovery.

Tickets are priced at $12 for adults and $9 for children aged 4–12. Children aged 3 and under are admitted free. Admission covers all activities for a single day, and guests are welcome to participate in as many events as they choose.

All proceeds from ReDiscovery Weekend benefit Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge’s mission to protect and rehabilitate New Jersey’s wildlife and habitats through hands-on conservation, education, and care.

Whether it’s your first visit or a return to reconnect with nature, ReDiscovery Weekend at Cedar Run is sure to be a memorable adventure for the whole family.
