The Whippany Diner: Review
Another Morris County Diner to check off my list! This time I visited the Whippany Diner (in Whippany) located on Route 10. I went to this diner purely out of convenience after visiting the Whippany Railroad Museum which is .2 miles away.
The diner itself is one of the smaller ones I’ve been to, but they use their space wisely with plenty of booths and spacious diner counter.
The Whippany Diner considers itself to be a “diner, restaurant AND seafood pavilion”. In addition to their typical diner fare, they offer a full page of fresh seafood specialties including salmon, scallops, shrimp, tilapia, scrod, clam strips, and crab meat served up broiled, fried, or in a land and sea combo. Feel free to bring in your own wine because this diner is a BYOB.
Other things that caught my eye on their menu included a “quesadilla corner” featuring 7 different quesadillas and “loaded” fries section ranging from disco to pizza to Greek. Their breakfast menu did not mess around- they had specialty omelettes like the “Gobble Up” (turkey, blue cheese crumbles, bacon & tomato), the “Lumberjack Special” (4 pancakes with warm apple filling, raisins and bananas), and the “Cyclops”(3 pancakes with an egg in the middle, served with bacon bits).
I visited the diner on one of the hottest days of the Summer, so I was not looking for anything too heavy. I decided on getting their Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich which came with a side salad. It was delicious and filling! I was very happy with my choice.
This is a great Greek, family owned diner with lots of great menu options. If you’re in Whippany, I definitely recommend it!
