What to Expect for this Weekend’s Wine and Chocolate Trail

If you’re looking to spend this Valentine’s Day Weekend by drinking wine and eating chocolate…boy are you in luck! Every year the Garden State Wine Grower’s Association hosts a Wine and Chocolate Weekend where all local New Jersey vineyards and wineries participate. It’s a great way to visit one or multiple NJ winemakers in one weekend (February 9th & 10th) and give you a taste on what to expect.

Additionally there are other vineyards that do no participate in conjunction with the GSWGA, and I am posting their wine and chocolate events as well.

South Jersey:

Balic Winery in Mays Landing will be celebrating for two weekends, February 9th – 10th and 16th – 17th, with free fine chocolate and beautiful roses plus live violins, 12 string acoustic guitar and accordion and vocals bringing sweet music to fill the air.

DiMatteo Vineyards in Hammonton will have a special tasting menu, wine specials, and lite bites. All ladies will receive a chocolate covered strawberry and a rose.

Plagido’s Winery in Hammonton will have their Wine & Chocolate Tasting for $12 per person and includes 10 wines and 5 gourmet chocolates.

At Sharrott Winery, Winemaker Larry Sharrott has created a special tasting which pairs their award winning wine with many different chocolates. What could be more decadent? Wine tasting is $12 per person and includes 6 samples of their award-winning wines and chocolate pairing.

Tomasello Winery‘s main location in Hammonton invites you to enjoy all of your favorite Tomasello wines and a decadent chocolate fountain. On February 9th, you can also indulge in a delicious bistro menu, specialty cocktails and live music! Free admission, food and drink prices vary.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with that special someone at Iron Plow Vineyard in Columbus this year. With your wine tasting this weekend they have complimentary artisan chocolates by local chocolatier, The Farmer’s Daughter, to pair along with your wine and live music.

Valenzano Winery in Shamong will be hosting Valentine’s ‘Wine & Chocolate’ Wine Trail Weekend on February 16th & 17th. $10 Admission (at the door) includes admission, wine sampling, chocolate treats, live music and a souvenir wine glass.

Amalthea Cellars in Atco will be having tasting across their entire portfolio including future and rare wines (year’s futures will be the ultra-rare 2016 Europa V and Dream Barrel Syrah!) PLUS specialty valentines gifts will also be available including their famous hand dipped chocolate bottles from Michel Cluizel. Tickets are $15.

Bring your Valentine to romantic Hawk Haven Vineyards in Caoe May for an afternoon of adventure! Their doors open at 11am on Saturday & Sunday and the first 50 ladies each day will receive a rose!. The Wine & Chocolate Tasting is $14 per person and includes 8 wines and 4 gourmet chocolate pairings.

Visit Natali Vineyards in Cape May Courthouse for the Wine & Chocolate Weekend Trail on Feb 9th & 10th t celebrate Valentines’s Day with your special someone! Plus on Feb 16th & 17th,you’re invited to try their award winning wines with complimentary Gourmet Chocolates.

Turdo Vineyards in Cape May invite you stop by & indulge in a variety of gourmet chocolates, which have been expertly paired with their award-winning wines.

Willow Creek Winery in Cape May want you to join in on some pre-Valentine’s Day fun with wine tastings, tapas and the sweet sounds of Camille Peruto (performing Saturday).

Cedarvale Vineyard/Winery in Swedesboro will be hosting a special weekend where they’re pairing chocolate morsels with their wine. The charge is $6 per person.

Di Bella Winery in Woolwich Twp will be open February 8th – 10th for a $3 wine tasting along with some tasty chocolates!

On February 16th & 17th Heritage Vineyards will be hosting their Wine and Chocolate Event for $30 (or $20 if you’re a member). Attendees will be able to sample 12 wines, enjoy 4 wine and chocolate pairings and listen to live music provided by Dave Kelly. Event will feature the finest chocolates from Mecha Artisan Chocolate in Haddon Township and decadent French macarons from La Mademoiselle Macaron in Mullica Hill.

Summit City Winery in Glassboro will be treating their guests to complimentary snacks and chocolate to pair along with their wine. Their warm and cozy tasting room is a great setting to spend a romantic and relaxing time with your valentine. A Standard Tasting includes any 6 wines & souvenir glass for $8 and our Wine Lovers Tasting includes any 8 wines & souvenir glass for $10

Wagonhouse Winery in Swedesboro invites you to bring your Valentine or your Galentine out for a great day in the winery! Enjoy their chocolate and wine pairing for a special value of $25 per couple. Unplugged Lights will be playing romantic tunes 4-7 pm in the evening.

Travel to Pilesgrove and visit Auburn Road Vineyards for what they’ve deemed the Ultimate Wine…Chocolate…Gelato…Espresso Experience! Start with a pairing of selected wine with 1892 artisan chocolates followed by a Double Chocolate Gelato “Affogato” – ALL FOR ONLY $14. You can also enjoy their regular 1892 Wine & Chocolate pairing for $10 or our regular wine tasting for just $6 to try up to 8 wines!

Chesnut Run Farm in Pilegrove will be re-introducing their Shiro Plum Wine after a 1 year hiatus! Come out to the farm this weekend to be among the first to welcome back this favorite.

Monroeville Vineyard and Winery will be offering 5 wine pairings with either cheese or chocolate. $10 will include the admission, wine pairing, souvenir glass and sales tax.

Salem Oak Winery in Pedricktown will be hosting their Wine and Chocolate event on February 9 & 10. For additional info, be sure to give them a call!

Central Jersey/Jersey Shore:

Alba Vineyard in Milford will be hosting their Wine and Chocolate Event for 2 weekends, Feb 9th & 10th and Feb 16th & 17th! Enjoy a flight of Alba’s estate wines paired with a sampling of gourmet truffles, chocolate caramels, and a selection of French macarons, mini-cheesecakes, and chocolate mocha cookies. The tasting experience is $20 per person (21 and older), which includes samples of Alba’s estate wines, special chocolates, and an etched Alba wine glass.

Old York Cellars in Ringoes invite you for two romantic weekends (Feb 9th & 10th and Feb 16th & 17th) of music, chocolate and wine. Step into the tasting room to sample a delectable selection of award winning wines with an optional chocolate pairing. Enjoy samples and purchase wine infused cupcakes from BAM Desserts (Feb. 9 & 10 only). Get a picture of you and your sweetheart printed on a wine label to commemorate the experience!

Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes will showcase complimentary chocolate parings from Sciascia Confections of Ferry Market in New Hope and The Stockton Market. Wine tasting are $10 a person, wines by the glass and bottle available.

Hopewell Valley Vineyards in Pennington will be offering a special wine and nibble paring tasting, making wine infused chocolate truffles and there will be a select number of skilled handmade artisans here for everything you need to celebrate the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

Working Dog Winery in Hightstown will have wine, chocolate, and live music. $5 cover.

In Princeton, Terhune Orchards Vineyard & Winery will be offering a special wine and chocolate pairing of locally made chocolates and Terhune wines. Chocolate pairing includes wine flight, chocolates and souvenir glass. The event will be take place for 2 weekends on Feb 9th & 10th and again on Feb 16th & 17th.

4 JG’s Orchards and Vineyards in Colts Neck promise A PERFECTLY CHOREOGRAPHED PAIRING of award-winning wines and locally crafted chocolates for the weekend.

Cream Ridge Winery will be releasing their much loved Cocoa Currant Wine coupled with sweet treats from local chocolatier Bruno’s Chocolate Shoppe. $7.00 per person – includes wine glass.

Fox Hollow Vineyards in Holmdel & Chocolate Legends have paired a special selection of Award Winning Wines & Gourmet Chocolates for Valentines Day. This special pairing will be available on the following dates, February 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th,14th, 15th, 16th &17th.

Laurita Winery in New Egypt will be hosting their annual vow renewal (register in advance). Additionally they will be featuring generous samples of succulent chocolate inspired sweets which you can pair with their delicious estate wines!

North Jersey:

Brook Hollow Winery will be moving the tasting room across the street to our Banquet Facility to accommodate for their “See Red and Save Sale”, live music, and chocolate tasting and sales from Chocolate Lovers Emporium. Taste all 13 wines for just $10 in or etched logo glass, which in turn gets you complimentary tastings on all future visits, provided you return with that glass.

Head out to Phillipsburg to Villa Milagro Vineyards for wine and chocolates paired with their wines. From white chocolate to 70% cacoa we will see how wine and chocolate enhance each other’s flavors. They are also releasing their Besame wine – lightly “kissed” with chocolate. Besame, Spanish for “kiss me” will be sampled solo as it’s chocolate deliciousness stands alone. Supply is limited of our “beso de chocolate.” $10 per person includes a wine and chocolate pairing, a souvenir glass to keep, and a Valentine gift for the ladies.
