Wellness Wednesday: Doggy Noses and Yoga Poses

The motto for Doggy Noses and Yoga Poses is “saving dogs one unique yoga class at a time”. As a dog lover and somewhat yoga enthusiast, I was excited to attend a class held at Dark City Brewing in Asbury Park, NJ.

Doggy Noses & Yoga Poses is the organizer of incredibly fun yoga classes which help raise money for various animal rescue groups. They coordinate with all the parties involved (various rescues, venues) for a 1-hour mixed level yoga class in which adoptable rescue puppies and dogs are allowed to roam the floor.

Realistically you can perform downward facing dog with a dog at your side!

With each ticket a portion of all sales are donated to the participating rescue. Additionally all the dogs that attend the classes are in need of homes, so you could leave the class with a new best friend.

The event I attended at Dark City Brewing benefited Husky House which is based in Matawan, NJ. Husky House is dedicated to helping abandoned Siberian Huskies and all breeds of dogs, including mixes, have a second chance in life and a place to call home which they so richly deserve.

Dogs we got to spend time with included Clover, Remi, and Biscuit. There were plenty of puppy kisses to go around!

Our instructor for our class was  Elements of Yoga instructor Stevie Leah. Stevie was a great teacher who had a lot of patience with the dogs disrupting our class!

Because this class was held at a brewery, we got to enjoy a complimentary pint after the class (only for guests age 21 and over). Dark City Brewing had a lot on tap that day! Beer, dogs, and yoga…the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

Classes are held all over the Garden State so be sure to keep an eye out for an event near you. Events sell out quickly so if you see an event you’d like to attend…book it!
