Weird and Wonderful Words – EP Review

IMG_2809

I was recently emailed an EP (4 track album) called “The Right People Will Get It” to listen to by a local New Jersey singer/songwriter called Weird and Wonderful Words from New Brunswick. Since I am all about promoting local people from New Jersey (In an effort to prove NJ Isn’t Boring!) I gave it a listen.

The first song I listened to was “Canoodle” which is about an emotional break up, which is something that most people can connect to.

My favorite track was “Egress” which sounded like it could have come off the radio. It’s definitely an emotional and powerful song.

“Bobsy-Die” has more of an upbeat sound, but it is still an emotionally heavy song.

Overall, the album is acoustic and emo, so you’re into that style of music I highly recommend it. Influences for the music include Owen, This Town Needs Guns, Transit, Blink 182, Moving Mountains, City and Colour. It is locally produced and mixed, but despite being indie it comes off professional. I can definitely see a following for this group. They even have their own hashtag – #thefeelsarereal.
