It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend! There’s much going on from the annual North Jersey Orchid Society Show and Sale, the return of the Lambertville New Hope Winter Festival, plus Entrance Fee-Free Day at NJ National Parks. Here are my Top Ten New Jersey Events for January 17th – 20th, 2020.

Annual North Jersey Orchid Society Show and Sale
January 17 – 19

The Annual North Jersey Orchid Society Show and Sale will take place during the second weekend in January. It will feature out of this world orchid exhibits, showcasing plants grown in homes and greenhouses across the tri-state area.

Sea Girt Beach Cleanup
January 18, 10AM – 12PM

On Saturday, January 18th, the Surfrider Foundation: Jersey Shore Chapter and Jonesbar are hosting a Beach Cleanup in Sea Girt, New Jersey! Volunteers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to clean the beach with us! Bring gloves and wear hard-soled shoes. Dress weather-appropriate!! Always stay off dunes and respect wildlife!

Frost & Flames
January 18, 11AM – 6PM

Get up close and watch as master carvers turn huge blocks of ice into art using power saws, chisels, and grit, in locations throughout the park. These talented artists will amaze you with what – and how – they create during this one-of-a-kind event, as you gather and converse with them about the techniques they use. Throughout the day, enjoy additional experiences facilitated by artists from The Seward Johnson Atelier, who will heat and pour metal in intimate demonstrations sure to ignite conversation.

Asbury Underground Light of Day Music Crawl
January 18, 12PM – 7PM

Are you ready for the Light Of Day Foundation music festival? Asbury Underground will be hosting the Downtown Asbury Park art and music crawl to bring you FREE entertainment all afternoon. Come support our local musicians and other artists!

Speakeasy Fest
January 18, 4PM – 8PM

A DISTILLED SPIRITS and Food Tasting Extravaganza! TASTING TICKET includes the indulging of a Pig Roast Carving station, antipasto mezze and desserts along with 1/2oz pours of appprox 40 spirits including but not limited to Whiskey, Bourbon, and Scotch.

Soup Cook-Off
January 19, 1PM – 4PM

Each chef has brought their best soup, chowder, bisque or stew. Chefs and restaurants want to win, so they all bring their A-game! You get to work your way around the room and taste all the entries as much as you’d like. All of that soup will make you thirsty, which is why we always have endless free drinks, in many varieties, for all of our guests. We will have coffee, juice boxes, soda, water and more. You may help yourself at any time. Also, there will be a cash bar for those 21 and older.

Entrance Fee-Free Day at NJ National Parks
January 20
Tie your shoes and spend a day outside with your family. At various parks throughout the Garden State, your family can enjoy free entrance, which only happens about four times a year. This includes the Delaware Water Gap and Pinelands National Reserve.
