Tom+Chee invites you to celebrate National Donut Day on June 5, 2015 by visiting your local Tom+Chee in Freehold. To commemorate the day, Tom+Chee is offering a free grilled cheese donut with the purchase of a full sandwich for dine-in customers at participating locations.
The sugary sweet holiday has been celebrated each year on the first Friday in June since 1938, and originated as a patriotic remembrance of a time during World War I when Salvation Army volunteers handed out donuts on the front lines to soldiers. Today, more than 10 billion donuts are made every year in the U.S.
At Tom+Chee, customers are encouraged to try “donuts made awesomer,” also known as the Grilled Cheese Donut. Customers can opt for the classic grilled cheese donut, made of cheddar cheese between two halves of a grilled glazed donut, or choose from a variety of fancy grilled cheese donuts like the S’more donut with graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow mascarpone; and The King with fresh banana, peanut butter mascarpone and mozzarella cheese.
