The Washington Diner & Restaurant: Review
In an attempt to check more diners off my Warren County list, I visited the Washington Diner and Restaurant in Washington, NJ.
If this diner and it’s menu look familiar, it’s because it’s owned by the same owners of the Bridgewater Diner (Somerset County), the Flemington-Raritan Diner and Spinning Wheel Diner (Hunterdon County), and the Metuchen Diner (Middlesex County). I have now been to all of them.
Although it’s the same owners, each diner and menu are different.
Here are some cool things you’ll find on the menu at the Washington Diner:
– Their “Famous” Greek Salad
– A full list of fun omelettes including the Jersey Omelletee (Pork roll, Tomato, and Cheese)
– the “Jersey Border Breakfast Special; 2 potato pancakes, ham, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce.
– Oreo pancakes or waffle
– honey custard French Toast
– the Perfect Match Sandwich; corned beef and pastrami on open grilled rye bread with Swiss cheese
– a 12oz burger
The diner was super busy on a Tuesday afternoon! The only seating available was the counter (where I sat).
After going back and forth on what to get, I ended up with the Philly chicken sandwich which was kind of a chicken cheese steak but with 2 huge breasts of chicken on a kaiser roll.
It was very good!
If you’re looking for a simple, no nonsense diner with quick service…be sure to check out the Washington Diner on State Street!
