The Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market – March 30th, 2014
Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the Trenton Rock Flea Market in Trenton(duh). I got there only 30 min after the doors opened and the place was hopping! Who knew there were so many punk rockers and artists hiding out in New Jersey.
Great time @ the @TrentonPRFM today! Cool people, great stuff. Will review tmrw @Trentonian #trentonpunkrockfleamarket pic.twitter.com/YdOz8IXfR5

I met a lot of cool people at the event, including a lot of local artists who made everything between pop culture art, glow in the dark art, sculpture, prints, jewelry and everything in between.
One artist, Corey Hudson, makes art work out of reclaimed wood from Hurricane Sandy. He also gives 20% of the sale of each work of art to the Hurricane Sandy relief fund for the town where the wood came from. You can find out more on his website (linked to his name, above) and his facebook.
I also got to meet Trenton based artist, Leon Rainbow, who takes graffiti art and makes it into fine art. You can check him out on his website, twitter and instagram @Aerosoleon.
Another awesome find was True Jersey. They have a lot of AWESOME NJ merch. Check them out on facebook and pinterest.
There was so much stuff to see including Dylan Burns Wood‘s custom wood work, original art from Brutal Squid, Scatter Matter Studio who makes art out of fax taxidermy (just check it out to see what I’m talking about), and I got to meet some very cool people from the New Jersey Beard and Mustache Club.
I also got to pick up a pretty sweet tissue box made by P. Henry Bivona of Comic Redux.
He makes cool stuff out of used comics. You can email him at comicredux@gmail.com for custom orders.
All the artists I met make and sell their art in New Jersey so make sure to check them out and support local artists!
Be sure to like Trenton Rock Flea Market on Facebook and Twitter @TrentonPRFM to find out the next time they’ll be holding an event! They’re also on instagram.
About the Trenton Rock Flea Market (from their website):
The Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market is a punk rock-inspired flea market that takes place three times per year. We include vendors selling everything from vintage clothing, original artwork, antiques, silkscreened posters and handmade jewelry to handmade t-shirts, vintage toys, vinyl (of course) and numerous other interesting curiosities and unique collectibles.
The TPRFM hosted our first event in January 2013 and welcomed just over 50 vendors and 2,000 attendees in a small urban art gallery. Fast forward to November of that same year and we hosted more than 200 vendors from around the tri-state area (NJ, NYC, PA, DE, MD), gourmet food trucks, live graffiti murals, a live DJ and more than 4,500 people as we rocked the Historic Roebling Machine Shop building (once the factory that created the wire rope for, as well as designed, the Brooklyn Bridge).
We embrace a life-long love of punk rock and hardcore, DYI ethics, the arts, tattoos, copious amounts of coffee, the occasional shot of Jameson and a solid, well-styled quiff. We hope you’ll join us at the next Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market!
