The Skylark Diner is a very fancy schmancy diner in Edison, NJ. Half of the diner is a typical diner set up and the other half is more like a lounge. They DO have a liquor license and have fancy martinis of the day.

The menu is a little pricey, but the food is very good. They do not serve breakfast all day which is kind of a bummer, however they do have an amazing breakfast menu. One thing they serve that not all diners do is BREAD! And it’s good bread! So if you’re starving by the time you get there, don’t worry, there’s bread.

I have always wanted to go to the diner because I’ve heard good things about it. The diner is owed by the same people who own the Colonial Diner in East Brunswick and the Americana Diner in Shrewsbury, so I knew a little what to expect since I’ve been to Colonial many times. I ordered the “Mexicali” chicken sandwich with fries and it was really, really good! The sandwich had guac, pico and cheese so I was very happy. Their fries were  fantastic. You can order any of their burgers as a turkey burger or chicken sandwich which I think is a great concept. So if you’d like to order the chicken sandwich, look under the burger section.

My only issue was that you couldn’t order breakfast all day and that it was a tad too pricey. If you’re looking for an upscale diner experience that this is the place for you.  It has great decor, a fun atmosphere and if you’re not hungry you can always booze it up.
