The Hunterdon Wine Express Rides Again this Spring!

The Hunterdon Wine Express will return in 2025 with 16 scheduled dates, beginning on Saturday, April 26. Tickets are available for purchase.

Since its inaugural trip in the fall of 2022, the Hunterdon Wine Express has consistently sold out. Old York Cellars and Black & Western River Railroad were recognized for their efforts, receiving the 2023 Tourism Initiative of the Year Award from the Hunterdon County Economic Development and Tourism Summit, as well as the 2024 Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Award.

David Wolin, owner of Old York Cellars, expressed enthusiasm about the event’s success and expansion. “We are thrilled that the Hunterdon Wine Express has been so well received by the public and are excited to expand this initiative with the Black & Western River Railroad. The Hunterdon Wine Express has become an integral component of agritourism in Hunterdon County,” he said.

The experience begins at the Black River & Western Railroad Station in Flemington, New Jersey, where passengers board the historic train for a 25-minute journey to the Ringoes station. Along the way, a Wine Ambassador from Old York Cellars overviews the winery’s history and New Jersey’s winemaking traditions. Upon arrival in Ringoes, guests are transported by coach to the vineyard.

At the winery, guests will enjoy a guided wine, charcuterie, cheese, and chocolate pairing experience featuring award-winning wines, followed by a lunch prepared by Old York Cellars’ in-house chef, José Diaz. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the vineyard, relax with a glass of wine, or enjoy live music before boarding the train for the return trip to Flemington.

This 3.5-hour event is priced at $99 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the Old York Cellars website.

Old York Cellars was founded with the vision of producing world-class wines in New Jersey. Located in the heart of Hunterdon County, the winery provides a scenic escape in Central New Jersey. With views of the foothills of the Sourland Mountains, the property offers a comprehensive winery experience, including guided tastings, food and wine pairings, live weekend music, comedy shows, private cabanas, and large event seating. Conveniently located less than an hour from both New York City and Philadelphia, the winery is easily accessible from major New Jersey highways.

The Black River & Western Railroad has been serving the Hunterdon County community for over 50 years. Staffed by dedicated volunteers, the railroad is committed to preserving railroad history while offering guests the opportunity to experience vintage steam railroading. In addition to partnering with Old York Cellars for the Hunterdon Wine Express, the railroad hosts various themed excursions, including the Pumpkin Trail, North Pole Express, Black River Limited, and Easter Bunny Express. Railcars are also available for private events and special occasions.
