The Best Things to Do in Atlantic City This Spring/Summer
More than 27 million people flock to Atlantic City each year to enjoy its expansive beaches, vibrant casinos, and iconic Boardwalk. Most of those visitors arrive during the spring and summer, when America’s Playground is at its best.
You probably don’t need an excuse to visit, but if you’re keen to build your trip around an exciting event, here are the top 10 things to do in Atlantic City this spring and summer.
Bongwalk Empire with Cypress Hill, April 19
Get ready for an unforgettable night of nostalgic beats at the Boardwalk Empire. The legendary Cypress Hill will headline the event, supported by Atmosphere, Dilated Peoples, and The Pharcyde. Whether you’re a lifelong Cypress Hill fan or just discovering the collective, you’ll be treated to a high-energy lineup at a spectacular venue. It should be insane in the membrane.
Family Fun Day at Renaut Winery, April 19
Visit Renaut Winery & Golf on the outskirts of Atlantic City to celebrate the Easter season with your family. The kids will enjoy wholesome activities like egg painting and chalk design, while there is also a special visit to the Robonnie Farms’ petting zoo included in the $18 ticket price. Parents can also taste the latest vintages, including still and sparkling wines, and some may even decide to play a round of golf after the fun-filled outing.
Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl, May 3
Gather your friends for the ultimate Atlantic City nightlife experience. This event is ostensibly designed to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, but it’s really an excuse to go bar-hopping in AC. The Cinco de Mayo celebration takes you on a tour of the city’s top-rated bars, so you’ll enjoy high-quality cocktails and other refreshing drinks.
Kelly Clarkson Concert, May 9 and 10
The Grammy-winning superstar will belt out her greatest hits at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Clarkson was the inaugural winner of American Idol, and she has gone from strength to strength since then. Listen out for songs like “Since U Been Gone” and “Because of You.” Afterwards, you can try your luck on the blackjack tables or the roulette wheel, or just chill on the beach and play your favorite games on your phone. If that appeals, make sure you claim the PlayStar Casino promo code to get yourself a head start.
Run Monopoly, May 17
This promises to be an unforgettable experience. There are three options – a half-marathon, a 5k and a kids’ run – and they all celebrate Atlantic City’s status as the birthplace of Monopoly, the world’s most iconic board game. You’ll have the opportunity to race down the famous Boardwalk, surge through famous streets, and immerse yourself in the game’s rich history, while aiming for a PB as the ocean breeze cools you down. Visit the Monopoly Series site for more details.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, May 30
Enjoy a taste of “Sweet Home Alabama” on the Jersey shore when these classic rock stars perform their greatest hits at Ocean City Casino. Lynyrd Skynyrd have sold more than 30 million records worldwide, with anthems like “Free Bird” and “Tuesday’s Gone” proving popular. They’ll bring their bluesy riffs and country twang to the stage in what promises to be a thrilling occasion for fans.
ShopRite LPGA Classic, June 6-8
The world’s best female golfers will descend upon the region to compete in the ShopRite LPGA Classic at Seaview in early June. This event is widely regarded as one of the most fan-friendly experiences in professional golf, and it typically delivers gripping action too. Last year, Sweden’s Linnea Ström won the $1.75 million event, so it will be interesting to see if an American player can triumph this time around.
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, June 21
The legendary comedians will perform at Ovation Hall in Ocean Casino Resort. It’s part of their Restless Leg Tour, which has already earned rave reviews. “Regardless of whether or not you have restless leg, you won’t want this show to be over,” said the New York Post, which described it as “an absolute must for any fans of the Mean Girls twosome.”
4th of July Parade, July 4
Head to Smithville on the outskirts of Atlantic City for the ultimate Independence Day parade this summer. It will feature a record number of units – more than 170 in total – making it the largest parade of its kind, according to committee members. The parade will pass through the historic village of Smithville, and it may take almost two hours to pass any given point, due to the sheer number of units. Around 10,000 people are expected to line the parade route.
The Black Keys, August 9
Catch The Black Keys, featuring singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, when they play live at Borgata on August 9. They are firmly established as rock royalty after enjoying a great deal of success during their 20-year career, and you can hear all their greatest hits at this concert, which gets underway at 8 p.m.
Train, August 15
The multi-platinum rock band will perform chart-topping hits like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey, Soul Sister” on the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Special guest Edwin McCain will join Train for this eagerly anticipated show, bringing his soulful voice to proceedings. They have promised a blend of fan favorites and fresh tracks, so it should be an unmissable event for fans.
I Love the 90s Tour, September 13
If you love the 90s, you’ll love this event at Hard Rock Hotel. Step back in time and relive a golden era of hip-hop and R&B, with performances from Vanilla Ice, Montell Jordan, Rob Base, and Young MC. They’ll perform iconic anthems like “Ice Ice Baby,” “This Is How We Do It,” “It Takes Two,” and “Bust a Move.” Fans are encouraged to “dust off your best retro gear, and get ready to party like it’s 1999!”
