For owner Lauren Passafaro, her business is built upon her passion for design, organization and creating spaces. “Organizing, space planning and home decor has always been something I’ve gravitated towards as long as I can remember. Every space I walk into my mind starts reimagining it as something else”, Lauren tells New Jersey Isn’t Boring.

She attended school for Interior Design and graduated from SVA with a BFA. From there she got into Visual merchandising roles in the retail industry. “But, I never took my talent and made it my own until this past year. 2020, was the year of trying times, but personally it opened my eyes to be fearless and just go for it.”, Lauren says.
Her business began with staging a home that was a “tough sell” for her mother who is a New Jersey realtor. “She came to me asking for help staging a home that was going to be a tough sell based on floor plan and square footage. After executing that project it got me thinking… ‘I can do this’.” Initially she thought she’d start a business staging homes, but then her next job was to declutter, organize and space plan a client’s home using their existing furniture and decor. “That’s when I knew I wanted to help clients take their existing homes and SHIFT things around to create new, functional and inviting spaces.”

A lot of us have recently binged shows like the rainbow organization model of the “Home Edit” or giving away anything that doesn’t give us joy like “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”, or maybe you’re just obsessed with remodeling and organization by watching all of HGTV. The Little Shift specializes in areas of expertise are decluttering, organization, space planning, and home decor/styling. Recently she was hired by a client to help them unpack into their new home, so she is open to assisting in other household needs.
As for what makes your business stand out, Lauren says, “Each project is personalized for each client, we aren’t a cookie cutter business. We work passionately to execute every SHIFT project to ensure the client is extremely happy with the final results. We take what is overwhelming for a homeowner and transform it into a space they never want to leave.”
With possibilities that are endless, Lauren’s main focus is growth for her new business. “My dream is to be a well known name in the state of NJ for all organizing/home decor needs. I want The Little Shift to be NJ’s go to, to get Shi(f)t done!”
