Sherban’s Diner in South Plainfield: Review
This is my 125th diner review! Since I celebrated my last milestone(100th Review) with my good friend and fellow blogger Hollie aka FueledbyLOLZ we decided to meet up for this milestone as well in Middlesex County to visit Sherban’s Diner.
Sherban’s Diner, located in South Plainfield, has been family owned and operated since 1959. They are a 24 hour diner on Fridays and Saturdays, making it easy for people to come in on the weekends at 3am craving breakfast(or whatever).
The diner itself is pretty big, so big that it has it’s own catering hall. The interior is a little outdated, but it’s very clean. I enjoyed looking at their diner counter.
Their menu is pretty massive, making it hard to make a decision. Here are a few things that stood out to me:
– Not only did they have a Greek Salad, but it was their “Famous Greek Salad”. Which Hollie got.
– You can get a side order of feta cheese, macaroni and cheese, Greek bread, and homemade potato salad (to name a few)
– They have a list of “succulent” sandwiches which are served hot and on rye bread
– They had a list of regular hamburgers, specialty burgers, and super burgers
– A list of “Texas Specialties” including chili dogs
– A section of roasts including meatloaf, turkey, ham, and duckling
I had done my research on this diner ahead of time and two things seemed to be repeatedly recommended: their cucumber salad and their cheesecake. A lot of their meal options came with the cucumber salad, so after much decision I got a panini.
The panini came with a side of coleslaw, a pickle, and their famous cucumber salad. These sides arrived before my meal, almost like an appetizer.
The panini itself, was MASSIVE. I got a chicken panini which came with mozzarella and mushrooms. It was delicious! I ended up taking half of it home. Their fries were super crispy, and they were steak fries which is one of my favorites.
Although I didn’t have room, I ordered a slice of chocolate cheesecake since it came so highly recommended.
With big portions and plenty of options, Sherban’s Diner was definitely a good experience. Looking forward to my next diner milestone!
