Rustic Mill Diner in Cranford: Review
It would make sense that the first diner I visited in 2018 would involve my friend and fellow diner enthusiast Hollie (writer and runner for FueledbyLOLZ). For this trip we decided to check out the Rustic Mill Diner, located in Cranford, New Jersey.
If you’re looking to lose weight as part of your New Years Resolution, the Rustic Mill Diner may not be the best place to go. Not because they don’t have any healthy options, but because they have some no-so-healthy options that are way too tempting. These options include their cinnamon roll pancakes, honey dipped chicken, a double decker burger, and “Giant Garlic Bread” to name a few. Sigh…
Ultimately I decided to order something healthyish. I got the veggie foccacia sandwich; a portabello mushroom sandwich with cheese, spinach, and roasted peppers. I was asked if I wanted fries or a side salad, and (another sigh) I got the salad.
So much green! It was a very filling meal and the foccacia bread was amazing.
Because the sandwich I wanted just happened to be on their lunch specials list for the day, I also got soup with my order. The Rustic Mill Diner makes a very delicious homemade split pea soup. I highly recommend it.
And those croutons…mhmmmm. Very good bonus!
Hollie got the diner’s “famous” Greek salad with salmon. It looked amazing. It was a lot of food.
Overall, the Rustic Mill Diner was a pleasant experience in the downtown of Cranford, one of my favorite downtown areas. If you’re looking for a classic diner experience, this would be a good option!
