The Route 38 Diner in Mount Holly: Review
Located on Route 38 in Mount Holly (hence the name), the Route 38 Diner is a small diner that features classic diner fare at affordable prices.
I ventured there with friends at an odd time (4:45pm on a Sunday) and we arrived after a large party had taken over the entire diner. Since they left, we actually had the diner to ourselves which was pretty cool.
Greeted by a friendly waitress, we were quickly sat and given menus. Their menu, although good, wasn’t the most exciting diner menu I’ve ever seen (and I mean that in the nicest way possible).
Their menu is pretty average: breakfast all day, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and dinner entrees that could feed a whole family. Some things stood out though like their batter-coated french fries, homemade soups, and some of their specialty burgers like the “Mega Burger” (burger topped with pineapple, egg, bacon, and Swiss).
I wasn’t feeling too particularly hungry so I went with an easy diner classic, a chicken salad sandwich:
It was delicious!
It should also be noted that not only are their sandwiches very reasonably priced, but almost all of them come with a complimentary soup (I got chicken noodle). Plus their fries are amazing!
One of the most exciting parts of our visit was seeing a jukebox on the table! If you grew up in New Jersey and visited diners frequently, you probably recognize this. Sadly, I don’t see them too much anymore so I was very happy to see it our table…but I didn’t try to see if it worked, which I know regret as I’m typing…
Anyway…
If you’re looking for a classic diner with a classic diner feel and traditional diner food…The Route 38 Diner is for you!
